I played and enjoyed Xenogears, XC1, XCX but for some reason I cant stand XC2. Its maybe because of the generic shounen shit vibe and the fact that they all look like as if they have down syndrome, similar to Xenosaga which I would also never touch.

I don't know why people are so fond of this game. Linear as fuck, the only threat is endless bottomless pits (discouraging any fun), and it generally just feels bland across the board. The music is okay I guess, but even that is subpar for a Sonic game.

I get that it was the first of its kind, but it's so slow and has the worst tropes of every JRPG (really fucking linear, generic A to A, B to B equipment, etc) packed into one. It just doesn't have anything truly redeeming to warrant a full playthrough.
Usually, I find fun in almost any game, even if they're rather shitty (Sonic Adventure), or can at least appreciate their quality and focus, even if I don't personally like them (Dwarf Fortress). But the above particular games are just fucking boring.

I think you're mixing up SM with another game, because it doesn't have any cover mechanics at all. Some of its marketing even made fun of cover shooters, pic related.
Plus it only plays even vaguely like Gears if you play it in the most boring, inefficient way possible. You're supposed to get up close to enemies and quickly alternate between shooting & melee in every fight, not exclusively stick to shooting. The health system was designed the way it was specifically to encourage that.

Darksouls comes to mind.
The whole game is rather tedious and not very intresting, the once and a blue moon intresting boss is normally defeated by the most easiest of tactics.
It also lacks good detail, it's a bearly functioning port of a 360 title.
Theres also some sort of meme about it being difficult but it's one of the easiest games i've played, it's combat is just slow and that's not really difficult.
