Anyone intending on using the steam streaming service ? I've heard some fairly bad stuff about Twitch will this be a Twitch killer ??

Yea, it definitely has an edge over Twitch in that it shows streams right on a game's store page.

Steam's updated chat system didn't kill Discord. Hitbox and YouTube Gaming didn't kill Twitch. Why would this be any different?
52db52 No.15400237
Twitch is too large for people to switch. It might be as good as it can be but it will be like trying to create second Facebook. Especially now when Youtube made working streaming service. At this point there is no reason for people to stream on Steam instead of YT or Twitch.
Only thing that can save it is porn.

It might work if you want to stream something to people you know and not set up a twitch account for streaming. The trouble is, for people who would want a Twitch alternative like 8chanmania and other people around here, being tied to steam accounts is still inconvenient.

If it looks better, feels better, it will succeed. Lots of people are getting put off by the people who lay the rules down on twitch.tv and I guarantee lots of streamers will switch to steam.tv i especially if there aren't such strict rules like on commie Twitch.tv.

It's not just the censorship part, either. Design matters and a design that is easy to use and to transition over from Twitch will be a winner, from what we've seen the design looks like bonafide murky trash, not to mention they say that "Valve plans for other games to be supported on the service in the future" rather than being able to play any game you want, seems like it'll be Steam compatible games only, maybe it'll change in the future but it seems like it's going to be a focused and specialized streaming service.

It will never "kill" Twitch. It will most likely take the adult audience who likes streamers like "Daryl is a nigger name" iceiceice. Meanwhile kiddies will stay at Twitch because of how hard Twitch pushes to be family friendly. steam.tv does have the advantage of not needing to negotiate for any streaming rights for shit like professional DOTA and CS:GO which already puts it above most other Twitch alternatives, but it won't replace it.

Seems to be broken as shit. Opening steam.tv when it launched deridected you right away to watch the dota 2 tournament shit. Now it redirects to some Artifact stream that is not even live, just an image telling you to wait.
Whats the point of having a streaming service when the only things it allows you to watch are the official dota 2 shit and not actual people?

Additional alternative platforms is good, not sure how they'll make it valuable enough to use as a standard, but potentially this could lead to further inconvenience as it could potentially give the "eSports" crowd further legitimacy within steam internally, and could eat away at the already tenuous grip TF2 has to its standards.

Oh that was indeed horseshit holy fuck. I'd say I'm surprised Mastercard still has customers, but considering the slacktivism you see today, not really too surprised to no one is willing to put their money where their mouth is.
But I'm not really that autistic on stream regardless so it'd be hard to find something to pull me on, downside being that makes it hard for me to get popular but hey that's the double edged sword of being a streamer, you're either popular and cancer incarnate or you're relatively normal and unknown.
I'm not sure I know a single streamer that's down to earth and doesn't act out, yet is popular.
