I like SMD but that problem becomes absolutely ridiculous there. Once you get to the actual postgame, daily routine is something like this
>Wake up with buddy
>Roll call at the team lobby
>If motivated Pokémon today, get told about It
>>If any of them is Unown, get told about double EXP multiplier
>Walk to town square
>Recruitment drive: check citizens to see if there's any to talk and recruit
>>If any, talk to them for a dialog box, fade to black telling they had fun, fade back in, watch the following
>BLOATED CONNECTION PROCEDURE: photo of you and the Pokemon connect on the orb, a CONNECTED text appears with FPS murdering shine effects over several seconds, other Pokemon known to the one you just met appear on the orb, sometimes you get CONNECTED with one of those as well
>Open boxes at Klefki
>Sell loot at Keckleon
>Check post list
>Manually sort by continent
>Find the most appealing run, usually the one dungeon with the most jobs posted on it
>Write down jobs
>Sort/buy supplies
>Optionally check out the latest recruit's rememberable moves and abilities at Hawlucha
>>If any you want changed, endure the same animation and text one at a time
>If run is not on Water Continent, go over to Lapras and talk to him, select continent, confirm, watch Lapras swimming over there (hey at least you can speed up THAT last one)
>Repeat the recruitment drive on the current town
>Go over to town exit
>Select dungeon, confirm
>Select team
>>Every other run look for a suitable replacement for that Pokemon that just went on leave, go back to Hawlucha if current moves are horrible
>Safety save, at this point I might hilariously get "You had a great adventure today! You should rest before you play more." even though 90% of it was menu animations/walking/BLOATED CONNECTION PROCEDURE
>Give looplets
>Confirm
<ACTUAL DUNGEON CRAWLING HAPPENS HERE
>Interrupted by BLOATED CONNECTION PROCEDURE on every completed job
>Run complete summary on escaping after last job
>Dinner at the guild
>Save
>"You had a great adventure today! You should rest before you play more."
It's maddening because I love the actual game and I'm getting to the postgame point where you can start doing shenanigans (Water looplet abuse and cheesing Mega Mewtwo with Shedinja are some highlights) but I can only get CONNECTED with so many 2nd stage mons in a row before I lose it. I thought the Japs were time conscious enough to be able to get a good run going without requiring 15-20 minute setups. It makes me want to go back to Sky but I lost my cart. That, or trying Rescue Team for the first time. Speaking of which, what's the difference between Red and Blue?
