The last Remnant is being removed from Steam tomorrow. Buy it now, or torrent it for a reminder of it sitting on your Backlog if anyone is interested.

https://archive.fo/jphSh

>Square Enix has announced that The Last Remnant Steam edition will get delisted from the platform very soon, and will no longer be available for sale. Anyone who buys the game now will continue to own it and have The Last Remnant in their Steam library to download and play at any time. This is much like with the recent delisting of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games from online marketplaces by publisher Activision.

The only other game I know about getting pulled was Cryostasis which was a pretty good game and also that shitty minecraft looking FPS which got pulled because the developer made some sort of threat on Gabe Newells life. Any other titles anons would have liked that were removed from the common market? I know buying is usually frowned upon when it comes to big developers like Squeenix, and I'm inclined to agree, but I don't know how I feel about titles getting removed from what is the most common way for people to acquire new games for a PC.

What the hell is wrong with you?

If you wanted to discuss the practice, you shouldn't have had "buy it now" on the first line of your post; the only thing that could've made this worse was a direct link to the steam store page

Steam being one of the only digital distributors/storefronts to sell games is a huge fucking cancer and problem for the industry too, and suggesting buying it and helping them to increase their wealth and power does nothing; retards who use (((Steam)) are fucking cancer as well

Why buy it…?

I mean, it's a really forgettable JRPG with one of the worst-conveyed combat systems in the history of JRPGs, which isn't an easy feat. It also has a difficulty resembling a retarded brick wall, where the game will suddenly go from easy as fuck to dante must die mode, before swinging back down to baby mode.

d3c40b  No.15397890

The problem is in having to insert the disc to play the game despite installing it to the hard-drive. That is a form of DRM.

4a562b  No.15398055

>>15397890

It doesnt install everything to the HDD. It only installs whatever needed files are to run it, the rest are on the disc. Its not a download that has every single thing on it, that's why it should take little space in your HDD.

The contents of the media are still on the media. It has nothing to do with DRM and has to do with saving space.

Look at Starcraft 1's required disc space as an example. 128 MB, yet when you look at the file size on-disc its much greater than that.

Do you retards not know this shit? Do you think installing a game means the transfer of every asset and file on-disc to your hard drive?

ba4beb  No.15398145

>>15397880

Blame companies for not seeing a reason to optimize games to run properly straight off the disc (or even cart, in some cases) anymore. Effectively passes the problem onto the user, in that if there's not enough room, it's either you delete shit or buy a bigger HDD. And it only gets worse as games continue to become more bloated. Ridiculous seeing 8th gen games ranging from 10gb (essentially high end PS3 tier) to 40+ for a single game, and that's before patches. Of course, PC can get it even worse too, if a company opts for the "uncompressed route" and leaves the entire game bloated to hell and back.

I was honestly surprised when Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, at least the PS3 version, played right off the disc.

5fa8a0  No.15398161

The PC version has a physical version that doesn't involve giving Valve your money. You just have to redeem the code on Steam.

2ab29c  No.15398196

>>15397693

I've been playing it in recent days and I don't see where the difficulty complaints come from. It reminds me of xenoblade where stuff way over your level is present in early zones and will undoubtedly fuck you up if you mess with them. The only actual difficulty I had was trying to do some quests early when I could have put them off for later when I was stronger and The Fallen. I feel he's intended for people that really understand the game (or NG+) especially since beating him likely means you'll fight the strongest version of the final boss and you're gonna need the materials in the area The Fallen unlocks. The class system is pretty retarded though.

sauces/proof?

also

>install files

kek, even in the 360 era install filesizes were very small

>You mean the game that functions with a small filesize crack?

What are you even talking about?

The iso for Starcraft is 626 MB (the max for a CD-ROM at the time and also would've been a painful filesize to take on the HDD at the time as well), the filesize of the install on your computer is 128 MB.

Older consoles had even less shit on there, all they needed was a memory card since saving was the only thing that the console really had to do involving memory, everything was on-disc but now that there's more shit on the consoles such as internal storage and external HDDs and other shit that make them similar to computers such as profiles and other shit, the filesizes of the installs increased.

Its still overall very small relative to the games which is why you can install hundreds of physical games no problem on most consoles from disc, and very few digital games by comparison since the digital games come with all the assets and everything and whatnot

My example is I was doing one of the first of the three dungeons they let you choose from. I went through it, not really having any issues mobs were easy. That was, until I got to the final 'boss' room. I got flattened pretty much instantly . At first I figured it was a fight you weren't supposed to win, since the enemy seemed so overwhelmingly more powerful. Nope. You are intended to beat them.

It's not difficult it's just poorly made, it's the only RPG ever made were levelling up hurts you and you have to actively avoid as many battles as possible to avoid it.

The Last Remnant is one of the best tests to see which people are shitters who just grind and overlevel in JRPGs. You don't need to "actively avoid" enemies, if you just go through the game normally and can plan more than a step ahead the game works perfectly fine.

acf54a  No.15400281

Why are people "shitters" if they grind? Grinding is a big part of JRPGs and that includes if you over-level yourself. It's kind of the core mechanic. Rushing through the game under-leveled doesn't make you a hard ass (nothing in a JRPG will make you hard ass, they're easy as piss games) it just makes you an impatient faggot.

c37cbe  No.15400880

The scaling is just fine. And you can grind a few spots. The trick to grinding is to get into large fights with many monsters. Thus, fight quality matters more than fight quantity. Small constant fights is what fucks you.
