They gave it to the main artist on the rhythm heaven games, he has a really round style which doesn't really mesh too well with his design.

What's the deal with the new firmware at this point? I'm on CFW at 11.6, downloaded a ton of shit with FreeShop. If I stop using FreeShop and update to 11.8, will they be able to detect and ban me for the ones I already got using FreeShop?

We're talking present, not future. The recent firmware update has changed how eShop handles tickets, so people from here on out using FreeShop get detected and banned. What I haven't been able to figure out is if it can only detect downloads done after the update, or if it's retroactive.

Single player is 99% of what I do, but I've got some friends who want to play Monster Hunter 4U, and due to region lock I can't play that on anything but a CFW'd 3DS, so from the sound of it I'm piss out of luck on that front.

Except it doesn't feel like it. Newer jap games all feel like they're being made with foreign markets in mind. The days of DoA beach antics and weeb fanservice are dying. The only way I see any of this getting fixed is if Hollywood (the biggest export of poz, sjwism and unsexy bitches) crashes and sends a message to the world that libfaggotry just doesn't sell. But I don't see that happening any time soon. I mean, there's some happenings but none of them nearly big enough to shake things up, by the time a big happening happens, the damage may already be irreversible (at least within our lifetimes).

I got a new update on my 3DS, first time I've gotten it in a while. I figure it's safe as long as I have Luma or whatever updated, but can anyone remind me of an easy way to do that? The Luma3DS updater doesn't work since I switched to Boot9Strap from A9HL.

Already reviewed it in the last Wario thread. So my review, Director's Cut. "IT'S GAME TIME!"

Graphics: Hmmm. Messy and incoherent on purpose. One moment it's flat-shaded polygons, then a very crude drawing, then retro pixel stuff, then something clearly based on photographs. Stereoscopic display mode is not supported, as that would have been pretty disorienting with the rapid changes between the games. But they could have used it for cutscenes and unlockable flimflam. The character drawings are simplified (e. g. Mike's microphones on his head are just circles) and often animated like simple flash cartoons. The character art is not quite as bad as Street Fighter V, but eeh.

Sound: Very good. I like all the voices. Mind you, I've only played WarioWare Touched and that was over a decade ago and so I don't associate voices with the characters, and I get that voices changing is really off-putting for most people. Among the things you can unlock are Japanese songs from older WarioWare games, and I think Ashley's Japanese voice is too cutesy compared to the American one, even considering the different cultural baseline they have. Love Fronk's voice. The voices also do a bit more than just sound happy or sad based on passing or failing a micro-game. (For example, there is one about sticking a finger in a nose and sometimes you face a nose with spiky piercings and then the right thing then is to not move the finger, and when you pass that one, Mona says: "Aren't you clever.")

Amount of micro-games: Very good. You want a paragraph of explanations? OK, there's a lot of 'em. There's your paragraph. Let's talk about something else than the quantity. Some of the micro-games are done with the dpad, some with the stylus, some with gyro controls (and it's all very precise and it's always you who sucks when something goes wrong). I would have preferred some of the boss challenges to have a bit more complexity and more variations.

Ways of tackling the micro-games: Excellent. Don't judge this before beating the "story" and unlocking the other modes! The only thing I don't like here is the way you do a single micro-game in the index. You beat a target amount of variations of it getting faster and harder, and you have several lives for that. This gets boring quickly. I would have preferred a lower target and no extra lives in this mode. What the game is really about is having a series of these micro-games thrown in your face in rapid succession, and you can do all of a certain control type, all together, super-fast from the start, or mixed together with some additional challenges on top. In this aspect the game is all I wanted and more.

Unlockable knick-knacks: A bit underwhelming. Who wants over a dozen alarm clocks?? Where's my grandma simulator and interactive pudding? Tsk, tsk.

All in all: 8/10
