>Do you ever do a personal look at a game even if everyone already says its trash?
Of course. You can read all about what others think of it, but you can never truly appreciate badness second-hand. Even if everyone is already scathing about it.
My best example would be Dragon Age Inquisition. Obviously all of /v/ was like fuck this shit from day one, but the day it was finally cracked, I knew I had to play it myself. It turns out it was terrible for reasons /v/ had barely even touched upon. The experience was painful, sure, but fascinating.

The most baffling detail is the armor that turns flesh pink. It was a problem day one and its still a problem to this day. The visual style is a weird branch off from DA2 pastel coloration, where the beards look fucking weird. It was the precursor to ME:A in its visual style.
Thats not even talking about the gameplay or game design.

You can go fuck yourself, the game was great. The Glaive made for an amazing gimmick for combat, constantly swapping weapons too and the puzzles were all pretty neat too. The boss fights were quite unique as was the environment.
There are issues with the game, especially with the movement being quite stiff, but that's something you can get used to and it's quite nice afterwards.
>Do you ever do a personal look at a game even if everyone already says its trash? just to satisfy your own curiosity?
Only reason I even pirated Fallout 4 in fact. Bethesda games have the funny particularity that one of it's worse issues isn't something you can be told about, you have to experience it for yourself.
Beyond the lore retardation, the terrible gameplay and design decisions, atrocious HUD (in every single game, holy fuck they never do this well) there's always a terrible problem in [Bethesda's Game].
Your character doesn't feel like he really exists. He's as real in that world as the gun you wield when in first person, just a vessel for the player to act that's barely acknowledged by everyone in the world.
But at the same time, everything only moves or changes when you interact with it in some way, usually by combat.
So you end up with this funny feeling where you're playing an RPG where you're not really a character in that story, just an observer of events unfolding, but at the same time those events only unfold when you press Play in some way.
It's like their games are a videogame version of Window Media Player, but you never understand this if you're just told about it. It looks like you're a big shot, that your character matters a lot, that you can roleplay and everything. It's only after sinking a few hours that you realize the game world cares as much about you as you care about it.

I agree with >>15385993, more often than not, games that are highly praised end up being really fucking bad. Fallout 4 (the gunplay, which everyone said was great, was fucking trash and made me nauseous), Daggerfall & Morrowind (surprise, bethesda has always been shitty), STALKER, etc. Most times, its a case where an ok game is over-rated, but occasionally a fucking trash fire of a game gets a pass, like Borderlands and Rogue-likes.
I guess the closest game to the topic would be Rune Factory 2. Objectively a shit game and by far the worst RF game. Everything about it is weak and terrible. Worse than RF ToD, which gets treated too harshly. RF 3 is severely over rated though.

Dark Void was supposed to be a longer and better game, what it became was a real shame.
The cover based shooting is basic, serviceable but really not impressive. The upgrade system is really jsut padding too and a lot of the QTEs to deal with enemies or cinematics really don't make the game any better, especially when you're taking down several spaceships with the QTEs.
But the flying and shooting in the air was fucking amazing. The change of perspective between being on the ground, floating with the jetpack and actually taking off was the best part of the game.
To this date I've been looking and so far I found nothing similar to that moment where you're assaulting giant floating bases, where you fly to the top and drop down for ground-based combat before taking off again to the skies. The change in perspective and speed between modes is really great.
Even the last segments, where the rebels have their ship floating around, just being able to land on top of that ship for a breather and take off at anytime is a degree of freedom in movement that's very rarely seen.
Really wish someone took that concept and made something like Last Exile but with jetpacks besides fighters.

>Since Konami lost source code for both games, Hijinx Studios had to work with unfinished versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3. The core play mechanics and story for all games remained mostly the same with some artistic changes in the remastered versions. For the remastering, both games have had a graphics overhaul to allow them to support modern 720p resolution on consoles, as well as run at locked 30 frames per second. Both games also feature an alternate voice dub, as well as PlayStation Network Trophies and Xbox 360 Achievements. Players have the option to switch between the original voice acting and the alternate voice acting for Silent Hill 2, while the re-dub is mandatory for Silent Hill 3 because it lacks the original voice acting.

The driving was ass, literal matchbox cars being flung around by the physics engine and you will gameover on the driving sequences at least 5 times before figuring out which tree branch won't send your car flying 20ft into the air. The visuals were so downgraded to be usable on the hardware it looked like Early PS2/Late PS1 at times. And I think the game doesn't even have the full ending from the 360/PS3 versions as stuff was probably cut out. The motion controls were janky as well and combat was a chore. I would not recommend that anyone ever play this version of the game if you want the 2008 alone in the dark experience.

Pirated X-Men Destiny (which had to have a recall over licensing issues) to try it but (like a lot of games) it doesn't work on RPCS3, it crashes a few seconds into proper gameplay (this is just after an autosave so I occasionally try it with new revisions, no luck so far).
There have been times when out of boredom I've gone through my complete romsets and played random shovelware to see what it's like (and I know enough Nipponese that I have far more shovelware playable than most people).

Also Carrie is cute. Still have to finish Ride to Hell: Retribution which is nothing short of hilarious in how bad it is. I also play plenty of sub-par weebshit but I post enough about those as it is. What truly damns a game to sit on my shelf gathering dust is mediocrity. It's a nauseating mess and the characters and story aren't just bad, they're probably amongst the least likeable characters ever written. I enjoyed it a lot, but it felt like it was some kind of digital self-harm. It wont be any fun at all if you actually want to play a game, but it can be amusing if you want to play something that seems to be actively trying to stop you from playing it. The enemies were obnoxious to fight with several types being bullet sponges. Everyone loves to bring up how you can do all this crazy melee shit, but that's countered by the admission that it only really works in mercs mode. How do you lose the source code? I just don't get it. The whole craze of Japanese studios destroying their source code because they were deathly afraid of corporate espionage I get. But I do not get how one loses the source code to a video game. A gold master is often tens of millions of dollars of investment stored on a handful of discs, how could anyone be so careless? What's more, most companies make multiple gold masters, so it's not a matter of someone fucking up once. It's a string of cascading failures resulting in stupid shit like a studio being forced to take artistic license with an HD re-release of a game because they have to work with unfinished builds of the game.

I've always been hesitant to trust that story because I don't trust the journos and they all had an article up about "Free Radical versus the monsters". A counter article from an anonymous Lucasarts employee made more sense, saying they did the same shit with BFIII and Haze that Randy Pitchfraud pulled with Borderlands 2 and Colonial Marines. Take money to develop the licensed game and fund the one you own complete control over. It makes no sense for Lucasarts to have a game 99% done and let it rot. This correlates with the leaked assets of BFIII, which were not 99% done. I agree, fuck Haze, but for different reasons.
As for Kinnect Star Wars, I guarantee you Microsoft was paying them big bucks all through 7th gen not to make a Wii Lightsaber game purely to fuck over Nintendo just like with porting games in 6th gen. The games failing was never a factor in selling the Star Wars IP however. Lucas was getting old, was sick of having to do the majority of work due to being kicked out of the guild and unable to hire other competent directors, and saw Marvel's success at Disney. I really don't understand why Yidsney would do that, I know they're trying to maintain a family friendly image, but that seems to be going out the window recently, and George Lucas might have made some questionable decisions but at least he cared about Star Wars as more than a mere cash cow, unlike Yidsney.

Going off what everyone discusses on /sw/, Bob Iger has presidential ambitions and Kathleen Kennedy wanted to make her mark. She's always been a producer, funding stuff in the background without any fanfare. She saw this as her chance to be in the spotlight, and Bob Iger would get to campaign on a D ticket as supporting women's empowerment. Everyone there also thought Star Wars was too big to fail. Lucas knew better than that after the Holiday Special. Despite all the online shittalking, the prequels were overhyped and mediocre films that sold decently, not total disasters. People still cared about the brand, which is why he got four billion for it (that he donated to charity right after and no one mentions it).
Star Wars was expected to print money no matter what, so in their minds, why not use it as a tool to push their politics and show off? I really want video of the Lucasfilm office when they realized a Star Wars movie failed under their watch. Back to Disney as a whole, I think Frozen 2 is going to define them as a company going forward. If they try the subversive shit everyone keeps rumoring about with Elsa, they've given up on even the pretense of making money and are going all in on propaganda.

I think it's going to kick them in the balls hard with backlash, but they'll limp on. The problem is Disney has become too big to fail. If you look at pic related, they make almost half their fucking money off stuff like ABC and ESPN. They own 15% of all media on Earth before buying Fox (didn't include Fox News IIRC). They will almost be guaranteed to be the #1 streaming service due to the stuff they already own that can go up like classic princess movies. It would be the premier babysitting choice of parents and further their grip on most entertainment outside gaming.
Even if enough people got pissed and boycotted enough to ruin them, that would leave two worse outcomes. the five other groups that own 15% chunks of said media would further consolidate that power, or they'd get a bailout. If the current government said the Fox merger is okay, they won't say no to them being gobbled up. Something insane would have to happen for Disney to die in a positive way. Then again, I can't see the future, I just look at the data available to dumb plebs like me and guess. Good things could happen, but I'm just not seeing an opening. You never know for sure.

I played the PC version of pic related, I thought everyone had been exaggerating when they talked about how shit some videogames are, since I had never played a compeletely shit videogame, so I decided to give this shit a try, I mean, people on the Internet tend to exaggerate things a lot, right? I was wrong.
I learned a lot from playing this, and I don't regret doing it, I laughed my ass off at several parts of this game, like the long ass, overly exaggerated death animations this has. It also has an extremely aggressive aim assist, where if you aim near an enemy's head with anything but a sniper, it will jerk your cursor towards it's head, making you miss FAR more often than usual, and the sniper had me guess where was the center of the screen since I don't remember it having a crosshair on the scope.
All guns feel like shit and like they have no impact except for the bolters and the shotguns, which gibbed whoever died to it. Sadly, those bolters are the closest ones to actual 40k lore, so I can give them props for that.
Another shitty thing the game had was that, like Halo, which this was supposed to kill, you're limited to 2 weapons in your arsenal, which is further limited by you being forced to carry a Tau weapon at any moment. And since until a certain point, they are better than the ones you find on the field, you will run out of ammo for them and you won't find any fucking ammo for it because you're on imperial territory for the majority of the game and I think you went in further than any of the other fire warriors.
I could go on criticizing this game if anons wanted me to. I managed to squeeze some fun out of it, even if it's shit, and turns into complete bullshit at certain points.

Rogue Warrior was a load of 'fuckin cocksucking bullshit' with like 4 enemy types 2 of which were bulletsponge versions of the other 2, it was over in an afternoon (thank god) and was one of the laziest pieces of shit I've ever seen with the exception of Terminator Salvation which was guilty of the same lack of enemy variety and length but was more insultingly bad because you could finish it in 3 hours.
That said Mass Effect 3 was the game that stopped me buying games so perhaps that one deserves the heavyweight titie.

HORRIBLE. Worse graphics than predecessors in terms of both design and quality yet runs abysmally if at all but on a newer generation of console. Bugshit missions that randomly fail you sometimes despite achieving all the objectives. Lower quality voice acting and generally poor sound mixing. Literally the only good thing about the game was the OST. It shouldn't be possible to fuck up this badly.

Thought it would also give me a hearty chuckle. Boy oh boy, it did. There isn't a single redeeming thing about the game, except for Infinite's constant edge.
At first I tried to go in with an unbiased look, but at some point I just embraced the game's autism. Later on it stopped being funny and I started getting frustrated because goddamn the controls are so terrible and the music was pissing me off. Gotta hand it to Sega though, they basically created the average Sonic fanfic writer's wet dream.

Ironically enough, he was apparently a (((mercenary))) leader trying to steal from Eggman before being hired by him. Then Shadow apparently killed his entire squad and proceeded to beat him down. The cutscene is pretty hilarious since he's autistically screeching to no one "I AM NOT WEAK!" after Shadow already left. Being voiced by Liam O' Brien makes it all better.
>I will teach you fear then pain
The entire line is "I will teach you fear then pain. Then after that?… Well, at least the fear and pain will be gone…" Cue dubstep bossfight. Despite how silly it is, I have to admit the mechanics of his attacks is a pretty cool concept. Being hit by one causes a "reality shift" where several more projectiles and obstacles come after you.
