What's this all about?
Fullderp is a game where one of us declares himself the champ and takes a ragtag team of six Pokemon assembled by anons into an online competitive Pokemon battling simulator.
To quote one of Showdown's mods…

Can I give the champ something?
Of course. If we've got a champ, feel free to come in and watch and give him something when he calls for a new team. No experience necessary, and everything's done in-browser.
How does it work?
When the current champ calls "new champ", the first poster to claim it is our champ. The first six legal Pokemon suggested once champ has been claimed or "new team" has been called will be the team our champ uses to battle.
Suggesters are not to make multiple suggestions for a team unless 15 minutes have passed since their last request, or unless the champ specifically asks for resuggests.
The champ will be battling in Smogon OU unless he specifies otherwise.

The Rules:
Failure to follow the rules will result in IMPEACHMENT and/or BULLYING.
1. The champ cannot forfeit or intentionally throw a match.
2. The champ may not edit a set without the suggester's permission.
3. All Pokemon must be nicknamed.
4. The champ is not allowed to timer stall.
5. If someone resuggests before 15 minutes have passed since their last suggest, the champ must ignore it.
6. The champ should replace resuggests with fresh suggests that come in later.
7. If champ gives himself Smogon sets, he's a faggot.

Lol no. It's 'steal power-* items off of zigzagoons and other route 101 mons and spend 3 minutes ev training your fav shitmon on horde battle encounters' hard. If you can get past 1100 while champing or 1300 with a smog team RR/SS won't be difficult aside from a couple of nasty gym leaders and ace-trainer battles. There's a pdf of the user-made 'strategy guide' that explains basically all of the changes in the first couple of pages but it's just slightly too big to upload.
For reference I got through a big chunk of the game with a team consisting of a frillish (yes not a Jellicent, an eviolite frillish), a non-mega maw, a whimsicott and a one-button sceptile that couldn't use any of its phys moveset due to having an atk iv of like 1 and a reducing nature, along with some other miscellaneous shitmons, including a shedinja. It definitely isn't hard, it just ups the difficulty enough to make the game meaningful instead of a faceroll. I'm actually not sure if you can find any stupidly hard romhacks aside from taking RRSS and doing something gay like nuzlocke challenges, though all that would mean is more tedium, not more difficulty, since pivoting and deliberately letting mons get ko'd to safely switch/revenge kill in is a big element of what makes singles pokemon interesting. Much more fun to scrap by in a hard battle with a single 10% hp underlevelled shitmon than make an overlevelled smogon team to ensure that you can 6-0 every single encounter.

I really can't tell what a challenge means to you so I can't help you, especially what 'challenge' in an rpg means to you since that's such an ambiguous area. Earlier gen romhacks were comparatively more bullshit if that's what you're looking for but I was giving advice on playing ORAS (i.e. don't play ORAS). RRSS is worth playing and gives you a lot of challenges that require you to use the game mechanics, but it's not going to kick your shit very often in if you're reasonably familar with pokemon, just make the game fun.
