I'm considering Japanese products, probably starting with the MSX-2, but I don't know shit about electricity and how easy it is to plug them into an American outlet without burning everything down.

Actually been having some decent finds lately.

All complete and in great shape, aside from the outer box for EV's CE (which has seen better days, but everything else it came with is in great condition; not real sure what who designed the box was thinking construction-wise though). At first I'd thought Izuna 2 might be cart and manual only with a custom printed cover, since there was some white sticking off the sides of the art (the way cropping a printed cover scan without the original file's bleed tends to leave), but it turned out to be the back of a rice paper mini poster still hidden behind the cover, of which for whatever reason Atlus also decided to make double sided as "inlay" style art, despite the DS not having clear cases (it's not formatted for a reversible cover either). Nier: Automata also still had the first print voucher inside despite being preowned, and while I thought it would have likely expired already even if it hadn't been redeemed, not only are they not set to expire until 2027, but it hadn't been used in the first place, so that was nice as well.

Saw some cheap copies of Vol 1 and 2 the PS2 Eureka Seven games get turned in the other day and the price, so I might do some research on those too.

Need to clean out my PS2's fan. Guy at a shop here said it's safe to use a vacuum hose to suck the dust out, but I haven't done so before myself, and I'm not entirely sure how much faith to put in that without doing a bit more research. Aside from that, don't really need to fix anything, and as far as looking for stuff. It's mostly what catches my interest and is cheapish at this point. As far as upcoming games go, there's only one that hasn't been cancelled or delayed yet (also annoyed that MWC is apparently going to be limited print only as far as physicals go), and last I checked that one still didn't have an estimated release date rather than a generic "Dec 31, 2018" filler tag.

Yeah, but progress through my backlog is slow, since I don't like to rush through shit just to get it done. Just beat DBZ: AotS that I think I mentioned picking up last thread.

Should definitely do some research on those. I know NA and Japan are both categorized as "NTSC", but I think that's more about signal output than power input. I could be wrong though.

Japan is 110v and US is 120v, but you can run nip electronics off US power without any issues. I have a framemeister, several nip consoles, and a fancy nip rice cooker and ran them all off US power for years.

I got myself a PS4. Didn't buy it, I got it for free from a friend, who didn't want to sell it, because he thought it was going to break soon. I did buy Bloodborne, digitally. 20 bucks. The console had the 5.05 firmware, and could be jailbroken, but I decided not to because I wanted to share my friend's games and Playstation Plus with him. Yeah, I know, lynch me now.

I cut a hole right below my PS4's fan, on the bottom cover, since that thing sounded like a fucking scramjet when playing Bloodborne. I also had an 80 mm fan attached, connected through USB. Pretty vanilla mod as far as they go. I'm also thinking about putting a filter on it. I'm pretty lazy, so I think I'll cut up the huge magnetic filter on my Corsair Carbide 400c and slap it on top.

Always can put one of those power supply saver shit in the middle between the C64 and supply. Mine has one, works pretty well. I want to do more shit to my 64, but don't know what else to add. Already has heatsinks and shit to keep it going, and a spare C64C for parts in-case. Fuck the SID in it though.

Not like fat PS2s are expensive or hard to find. Though, getting one that's confirmed refurbished, if possible, might be better so as to try to avoid laser issues and such, but if you go the IDE and loader route, you don't have to use the laser much in the first place (I run mine both ways, physical for what I have actual copies of, and loader for what I don't have, is too expensive, or would be region locked. Though, if it's more a matter of you having sold your games along with it, while the library still mostly ranges from reasonable to downright cheap, depending on what all you liked before, it might not be the easier thing on the wallet to rebuy.

I recently built myself a new rig, so I think I'll just do emulation. I have no idea how the used market for PS2s is like around here. I didn't sell all my games, but I did sell a sizeable chunk. Most are mediocre, but I do have some decent ones, like that Tokyo Racer clone game, based on the third Fast and Furious film.

Probably cheaper to get a PC-Engine + CD ROMROM or a Duo. CD games aren't region locked and you can get an adapter for cartridge games or a flash cart. I've been meaning to get one myself but I find it hard to stomach dropping hundreds on old hardware.

Any anons have experience with the GPD Win 2? How good is it for playing old shit on the go?

Fuck that. If I'm going to buy anything power-related for a C64, it's going to be a power supply that doesn't OVERVOLT THE FUCKING COMPUTER when it fails. There is no goddamn reason to use a Commodore power supply for anything than a heavy flail.

Found myself a dreamcast with the box and manual for about 60 bucks. had a Rumble Pack in the box, and Air Force Delta in the tray. Then i bought a bunch of incomplete games for about 10 bucks a pop, like Skies of Arcadia, E.G.G, MvC 2, Power Stone, etc. Then ended the month by buying that Senran Kagura game LRG was selling.

Nothing, unfortunately, found another dreamcast that had a bad GD Rom drive, but unfortunately, there really isn't any fixing that, so i gave it to someone who put a GDEMU in it.

The Japanese Duo-R is the best one you can get. The parts on it are known for being of higher quality than the regular Duo, and don't cost quite as much as the American machine, even with the all important mods.

Jap hardware runs on slightly less voltage than America's at 100v vs 120, and they can be rather schizo about the 50/60hz. You may want to get a step up transformer to deal with it.

Picked up Lunar Knights this past evening for $15 complete. Also, to any other anons that live around where I do and might be interested in it, I saw a copy of MS Saga over at the Zia in Tempe for $14 (I think). Not sure if it's complete, but it should at least have the case and disc. Kind of a hit or miss game, but the price is a lot better than average for it.

Yeah that thing, for whatever reason they kept it exclusive to PSN, says it comes with all DLC and shit though, so it ain't too bad. Guess i see why they never bothered, since it's been almost a week, and despite only having a 5k run, ite's still on sale.

While there's something to be said for digital allowing for games that perhaps wouldn't come overseas under normal production costs in the past, I'm really not a fan of how bigger companies seem prone to abuse it just because they don't want to put out a basic physical. And then if they do get a limited physical, if you don't want the intended digital version it's either give some percent of the funds to a cancerous distributor, or pay up to like five or six times the original cost on the aftermarket if it gets to be a notorious one. Fucking ANS+ is now up to $300 complete where I live, while the digital version has been getting into sales for like $20 in comparison. It's like, wanting to support a game leaves mixed feelings because either digital or limited print only format tends to support horseshit, all because the publisher doesn't have enough faith in what they decided to handle.

I was not amused to hear that MWC is only getting a limited physical print here.

Could also be that having such a gap between the actual digital release and the physical means there hasn't been that many interested in double dipping, compared to it being an option at launch, or whatever.

I'm heading to the Yongsan Electronics District in Seoul this weekend. I know of a place that sells a bunch of rare and obscure hardware and games, Japanese imports, Korean, and some NA/EU stuff. I've been there once before, briefly, when they were closing up for the night and got to see some of what the vendors had. I'm talking stacks of Famicoms, Dreamcasts, many special edition consoles, lots of Japanese-only releases, and some Korean oddities like the Samsung Saturn & MegaDrive. If anyone wants me to take picture of anything, get prices, or whatever, let me know.
