I was shocked. Pun not intended. I was so put off by Bethesdas bullshit i never considered Arkane were using the IP as a free pass to bring back a style of first person metroidvaniaesque gameplay long gone as things like the actual shock series turned into two button shooters with walking sim elements.
Having choices like 'do i build into stealth, alien biopowers, mechanics and engineering' and so on while using things like the gloo gun right out of Shadow Complex meant i could just say 'fuck you' to the designed puzzles and fuck around in my own way. Like building a path of gloo along a wall to get over a room below from one catwalk to another. Or using mutagens to becoming a mimic and turn into a cup to roll through a small break in a window.
It was an experience i really hope quest a sequel but after so many like myself wrote it off to say fuck you to bethesda i wonder if its happening. It did just get a roguelike dlc and a prop hunt multiplayer game type so maybe it will get one in future who knows?

Nearly done NuDoom, actually don't hate it. I don't give a rat's cunt about the story, but luckily it doesn't shove it in your face too often and you can usually just skip that shit. Ripping demons in half and blowing their brains out is pretty great and it delivers on that front. I wouldn't say it's as good as the original but my only big complaint is movement speed, a tad too slow, especially compared to the old games.

The game on the outside was pretty bland, the soundtrack was shit, the aesthetics where a combination of bland futuristic and bland 60's that didn't mesh well together. The enemy variety was surprisingly good, the balance between abilities and not using neuromods was really good. There wasn't enough weapons (there was more abilities than fucking weapons) and even with upgrades they still didn't get close to how OP and good the recycle grenades are. The level design was a lot better than I expected but still looked ugly to go through and didn't generate much immersion for me. Overall the story was pretty shit but picked up near the end and the game was very well balanced outside of a few things (you can grind infinite neuromods + recycle grenades). All in all a 5/10 or 6/10, good game mechanics, game play and level design underneath a bland exterior. A reskined prey with a solid aesthetic, soundtrack, story and lore would make for a good game, add in more weapons, abilities, etc and balance it, then you have a great one.

The og prey was a weird game, it had some solid mechanics and gunplay, a cheesy Indian protagonist and a cool story underneath all the cheese. The enemies, weird alien world aesthetic and lore was some of the stuff most people don't remember that well about prey, yet they were pretty good. There was cool bio guns, a grenade insect you had to rip a leg off to detonate, a vacuum gun that sucked different energy types for different types of projectiles, possessed children enemies that were a pain in the ass, you could kill anyone that wasn't plot related and even restart the harvest machine in the beginning that killed you granddad. It was pretty weird, a lot of late game weapons such as the acid shotgun and acid bfg where underwhelming, the game didn't actually let you die, the game had a lot of interesting ideas and mechanics underneath all the story cheese yet not a lot of people remember them. I'd give it a good 7/10-8/10.

If you've only played the 3DS games then it's no wonder you claim to like the franchise, Burst and Deep Crimson are pretty good beat em ups with tons of fanservice in them, it helps that the publishers didn't cuck out when bringing them to the west, i remember they got tons of shit for merely announcing the first game with a picture of homura's breasts with a ninpo scroll between them, mimicking paizuri.
The 3DS games weren't just low effort lewd shit either (like DOA, Neptunia or Valkyrie Drive), one of the best things about 2 was the fact that every girl had a different body, for example ikaruga had a firm ass and tits, haruka had a massive ass and enormous tits and mirai was flat as a board still best girl, this was even more noticeable if you fucked around with the boob slider DLC, at max size mirai had balloon tits while ikaruga's were nicely shaped and haruka's sagged.
Try playing any of the other games in the franchise and you'll see why many consider it otaku trash; shinovi versus introduced dynasty warriors-tier combat and yumi, estival versus simplified the already barebones combat system, made it slower and removed counter attacks/parrying, the cooking spin off was trash, the gachashit is gachashit and peach beach splash looks and feels low budget as fuck even if it is rather fun to play, their newest game is just a tech demo full of minigames and 7 and burst's remake don't look too good either.

Parrying is still a mechanic in Estival. There are PLENTY of things I don't like about this game like how the enhanced movement in the air and faster glory kills are runes instead of just upgrades, how the game drags on in some parts, the awful level design in some areas, the reimagining of classic enemies where now they look like aliens instead of demons, fuck the story, fuck the level where you have go climb the argent tower but above all my main issue is how it doesn't feel like a Doom game, sure it has its moments but they could've called it Spacemarine 3000 and it would've been ok.
Can't say I'm in love with this game but it gives me hope for the return of classic style shooters especially since it was well received by the casuals and the media, if there's a trend I hope the industry follows, is this one.

How does it "rape the lore" the sequel mostly doesn't take place on the sphere from the first game, it takes place on a different planet.

Shit story where your choices don't matter, copy and pasted borrowed gameplay elements from System Shock, annoying jumpscare enemies because making scary enemies is difficult, game sends an insta-kill enemy after you if use too many alien upgrades, a token stamina meter because having the stamina of an asthma suffer is fun, scavenging for resources to recycling is tedious especially if you haven't upgraded your carrying capacity, etc.
That's just off the top of my head, there are definitely more that I haven't mentioned.

If only the game respawned its enemies regularly rather than based on the plot. You didn't notice that? You would clear a whole level and they wouldn't respawn until you advanced a main story mission.

I think that if companies want to really sell you a videogame they should hire a fucker or two outside of the dev team to play the game and take the mechanics to its limits. NuDoom, I fired it up simply to test out dxvk and while the first half is rather slow, anything you get to do in Hell is just straight up fun
The weapons have a good punch to them, the monsters act differently enough and the game often enough just gives you an arena to brawl it out in.
