I remember when that song was censored, it was a pretty big pop-news story. Mike was absolutely pissed off about it, because the song was supposed to be about tolerance and bringing attention to the injustices of people who are falsely accused of being one thing or another based on superficial prejudices - only to turn around and get labeled racist himself because he used the word "kike" in any context.
Don't pretend that MJ was "our guy" deep down. He had a pretty fucked up life and gave him a unique perspective on show business/entertainment - but he was also extremely sheltered and spoiled by his handlers from a very young age, and long ago lost touch with any sort of real connection to the people listening to his music or how to handle basic human interaction. He was full-blown pozzed for the era, and if he were alive today, and not reduced to an animalistic hermit scratching the dirt in a darkened cave hissing at the light as his servants bring his daily meals to him - he would be the wokest motherfucker on the internet. He was infected with the prototype of what would become Tumblr-Psychosis long before Tumblr was even a thing.
