>The boards are driven by the people. If the peoples moral or motivation is not there then the boards will be shit. If you want a good thread then it up to you to create it.
Not going to deny that, but even if you decide to "be the change you want to see", and try to increase the amount of good threads in the catalog, when the rest of the community doesn't give a shit about it, or doesn't want the current quality to change, it's a wasted effort.
>The issue is largely due to the industry being generally stale and their is not much to actually worth talking about at the moment.
Agreed, but you don't even really see people talking that favorably or that much about older games or series that much these days either. Admittedly there's something to be said about a community not just dwelling on the past, but I think people at this point would rather be (justifiably) angry about the modern industry because the modern era is what's relevant.

Back in the day, when /b/ was the "door" of cuckchan (in that it was the board infamous throughout the rest of the net), there were enough oldfags that could deal with the newfags that showed up, molding those that could fit in and show the ones that didn't belong the door in the crucible of banter, gore, and porn spam of various sorts. As the flow of newfags increased over the years, especially due to media awareness, as well as oldfags growing more tired and jaded, you get a case where the manageable trick becomes a mass flood, and thus newfags make up the majority and rather than adjust and leave their old habits at the door, begin to warp and twist things to support their own. And yes, accessibility as far as terminal is also a crucial factor, given how many fucking phoneposters there are and the advent of "the internet for the rest of us."
As for my first post, I don't remember what it was exactly, but I spent a long time lurking beforehand, because not shitting where I wanted to eat made sense. In past years, I've seen some "anons" decry the notion of lurking as a meme, because in their point of view, no one would willingly undergo delayed gratification to learn how a community is and how to not stick out as a fucking newfag, when they can shitpost from the word go. Also people trying to normalize the idea of "but we're all crossposters, every one of us" or "once a cuckchanner, always a cuckchanner".
At this point, I believe there needs to be a new vector for communication, one that will take time and money for normalfaggots to acclimate and afford, in order to really regain the feel of the internet of old and all that came with it (both the good and bad).
