Vanilla wow was the closest wow ever was to being an MMORPG. The dev team trying to figure out a carrot on a stick to keep players like you engaged is exactly what turned modern wow into the embarrassing gear treadmill MMO action game with a shit combat system it is today. TBC was the expansion that cemented the game's fate as a failure as an MMORPG. The introduction of flying mounts and permanent portals in shattrath were the nails in the coffin which would ultimately hold the corpse of player interaction in the world outside of chat channels.

They can fix the bugs, they don't have to be stuck in patch 1.12, they can release 1.13 and so forth. Also it will use nuWoW engine and benefit from its technical improvements.

I disagree, I'd say it was Wrath with the dungeon finder. TBC was pretty much vanilla with improvements until you went to Outland.

Vanilla has its charms, BC was a tighter ship that was good. I don't know what to make of nu-Blizzard's shit because I don't trust them to not make a classic server that has massive deviation from what it's claiming to recreate.

Vanilla will be dead in a year. People will realize that most classes are just awful with pvp being dominated by rogues and warriors. Can only tank has a warrior due to 1.12. Leveling will be a grind that most people will give up on at around 20.

"Balance" is just yet another carrot on a stick to keep people interested in wondering what class/spec/whatever will be over or underpowered next and incentives people to spend more time leveling up a different class. If the game was perfectly balanced then everyone would probably quit even quicker because it would lay bare just how shallow the game actually is.
