I need something to play on a bus and such. I've been a PC gamer mostly until now so I know nothing about them. What has the smallest size (fits in pocket), good games, good price?

Well what do you recommend? Or maybe, what do YOU personally use? My preferences are:

- preferably fits in pocket

- not too high of a price

- does not need the newest games, or any specific genres (I like all types of games)

- active online would be cool

8bcae3  No.15302557

psp emulates pretty much everything before it except the big consoles and ds (ds is work in progress)

fb9eb5  No.15302573

>>15302495

I dont recommend putting electronic devices in jean pockets, if that's what you're talking about, since they're likely to wear down and break that way. Handhelds fit fine inside small shoulder bags and the likes tho

I personally use a DS Lite (with a r4 card) and a hacked Vita (Slim & Fat model both). PSPs used to be pretty strong candidates but the Vita is slowly starting to replace it thanks to the hack that affect firmwares between 3.60 up to the current 3.68.

>- does not need the newest games, or any specific genres (I like all types of games)

Vita might be a pretty good choice for you, with its rather good diverse library of niche stuff + PSP/PS1 digital retro-compatibility. 3DS is an alternative if you want Nintendo first-party + Atlus/Capcom/Squeenix titles but dont ask me much about piracy on this one because I ended up selling mine due of disappointment

>active online would be cool

I recall Dragon's Crown and the nip version of EDF2 and Gundam Breaker 3 still having a good amount of players last month on Vita. Cant say about other online games since i rather focus on singleplayer ones in general, and I know some of the Sony first-party titles got their servers shut down (Everybody's Golf 6 and Wipeout 2048)

The 3DS had some good games (Stella Glow, Rune Factory 4, Senran Kagura 2, SMT) but it felt very far-in-between compared to the DS itself and the Vita. Wasnt much a fan of the QUALITY build either.

Vita is pretty much the ultimate weeb machine (mostly rhythm, dungeon crawlers, JRPGs, roguelike, fighting, strategy and action titles as well as VNs) with a few west shit on the side (Dont Starve, Hotline Miami, Dustforce, Oddworld, Rayman, Risk of Rain, Terraria, Darkest Dungeon, Binding of Isaac Rebirth, etc)

3ds for emulators and portable joystick. PSP for phone replacement and typing. Both are botnet hardware wide but with CFW you will get more battery life out of the 3ds in the future if you install gentoo vs installing gentoo on PSP. But the 3ds can play PS1 games while the PSP can't play 3ds games. So really it comes down to exclusives to 3ds/PSP and battery life. For hardware durability I simply don't know.

Don't fucking do this, it has the shittiest d-pad and buttons in history. If anyone suggests getting one, you can tell that they're a gigantic pleb that don't care in the slightest about the single fucking most important aspect of a game, that being your ability to interact with it. The Lite is so incredibly shitty that it makes some games practically unplayable (anything that requires diagonals, pretty much). However you can purchase a dual shock 4 and a phone holder for said dual shock and you will be decreasing the odds of regretting the purchase a lot, and if you ultimately don't like it, or get lag, you can resell it quickly for a fair price, unlike those chink phone controllers nobody is looking for.

That depends. You can't go wrong with 3DS since you get DS and GBA with it, plus some emulation options for NES/SNES. Vita is also a decent option if its main library appeals to you, with PSP and some PS1 games and some SNES and GBA. Both need to be softmodded to get maximum power, and in the case of Vita it is damn near mandatory just to use standard SD cards.
