A lot of it clearly has to be that they think their stuff is better than the material they're licensing. But if that's the case, then why bother licensing it? I loved Legends of Tomorrow in its first two seasons. Had some SJW stuff, but nothing like last season. That Helen of Troy episode was the one that made me completely give up on the series, even though I hear later in the season Kid Flash and John Constantine join as regular cast members. But I don't think even that is enough to bring me back after the bullshit they pulled with like the first five episodes of the Season that I managed to force myself to watch. They were so bad it killed my enthusiasm for Flash as well, even though Seasons 2 was great and 3 was okay. I would have kept watching just for the promise of more gorilla episodes, but when their big crossover between all the shows was "muh nazis," I couldn't be bothered to keep going. You have to think about if you're taking what makes the series good and refining it, or if you are just adding new shit because you don't care enough to work with what you have or at least extrapolate in logical directions. Are you removing an element because you have a legitimate issue in adapting it in your given format, or are you just not a good enough writer? Are you changing something because it was actually not that good in the original, or do you just not like the original and are just ruining it for the people who made it profitable enough in the first place for you to adapt it?
Also, the first party doing alternate versions that are more different is different than adaptations being unfaithful, because of course you want to see adaptations that are more like the main entry, the main entry is the one that got the adaptations and alt versions in the first place. Take comics. There are a million alt versions of Superman, and most of them are cool. But if you're making a movie, do the main one. The ones that are communists or nazis or barack obama are cool too, but it's the main one that should be adapted, at least first. But in the case of Mega Man and Sonic, we've never gotten an adaptation that didn't go out of its way to totally change the backstory, world, and cast of characters. Some do it better than others, but even Post-Super Genesis Wave Archie was still too autistic to actually focus on characters from the games instead of characters from the cartoon that was cancelled 20 years previous, and then the new stories seemed promising but kept stalling so Flynn could introduce more and more new OCs instead of working with the many, many elements of the source material that have never been properly adapted. Don't get me wrong we got some good stories out of it but that's specifically the ones that stuck closer to the source material and tried to extrapolate in logical ways instead of just doing completely original shit. Like the Shadow arc that was basically a sequel to Shadow the Hedgehog. That's what the Sonic comics should be doing. Mega Man was pretty good but still too much focus on needless OCs.

I can see why VI is so divisive now. The sprite work is top tier, but they fucked up the pacing really bad. It seems like they were trying to make it easier so they buffed megaman, but they didn’t want it to feel too easy so they buffed everything else. Killing enemies just takes way to long and it feels more tedious than fun to fight them. The bosses range in quality as well.

I think it’s because, like I said, it was the first game that had a bit more freedom to how you tackled the levels and the difficulty felt the most balanced. Doc Robot is only bullshit in his Wood Man pattern, and, otherwise, he's just the MM2 RMs with a slightly bigger hitbox. The Wily Machine before you fight Gamma is probably the toughest fight in the game.
MM3 introduced the best new mechanic in the series, the slide, introduced a better version of the item weapons in 2, had fun stages with amazing music, and didn't have things like the Metal Blades and Boobeam Trap. While Doc Robot can be frustrating, it has nothing as unreasonable as Boobeam Trap.
