Ever notice those times when you pop in a thread that used to have hundreds of posts but then they all got nuked and all you’re left with is a few blank green texted replies? You know, those cases where mods not only ban the people they thought were ‘shitting up a thread’ but they also delete the posts themselves so we can’t see what the hubbub was about, can’t “learn” from it (so as not to make the same mistake again, provided there WAS a mistake in the first place, often there is none)? I can’t be the only one who hates that. I can’t be the only one who notices how much of a blanket rule 8 has become, how subjective the description of it is ( most characteristic of Jews, they love subjectivity, just ask every Jewish judge and supreme court justice ever ). Also, remember why 8chan was created in the first place? As a place where free speech was appreciated above all?

But no, I challenge that the first exodus being about free speech was, in fact, the case. People were pissed off that GamerGate got dissapeared on 4chan /v/, and so they moved over here and started advertising on 4/v/ when the mods were asleep.

I think that imageboard culture self moderates as far as post quality goes. It is impossible for a place in this format to turn into some reddit shithole, because people have the freedom to tell someone they're retarded. You don't need hotpockets to tell people what the right opinion is, only to keep discussion on the relevant topic and to delete spam.

The mods went from fags to total reddit and tumblr degenerate filth because they planted themselves onto the site and were chosen to become the new mods when replacing the old ones as a result of that and him generally no longer giving a fuck about how the site.used to be. That's why the vols here do what they do and the rest of the userbase putting up with it because no one wants another repeat of that infiltration. /co/ had Homestuck generals which paved the way for tumblr crossposting and you can take a guess as to how the rest turned out.
