It's once again a Ubi game made by the B team (the boat part in AC, Blood Dragon, new Raymans, R6 Siege, etc).
IE, it's a fucking blast, 100% fun, a good game.

I've never played any Far Cry game besides this one, the guns felt good and the main missions themselves were fun but the open world shit was boring. It wasn't all that bad because the map was so small and because you can sprint forever. That being said every upgrade in the game is easy to get and there aren't really that many forts or whatever to capture so there's really no incentive to play through it again. I'd say pirate it and give it a shot, it's worth playing once then never touching again.

Because in order for fast player-movement to work and for circle-strafing to be a viable strategy it requires-
>level design with areas large enough for the player to utilize a fast movement speed
>AI that does more than hide behind shit, pop up, and shoot like whack-a-moles
Basically because most modern FPS devs are creatively bankrupt and just do what's easiest. Also I suspect the illusion of "realism" sells more than an actual decent challenge couched in a power fantasy. I imagine it's been like this since CoD got really popular years back.

It's Far Cry with all the bullshit stripped out of it. It's surprising how much the game mechanics become more enjoyable with the change in setting and tone alongside of stripping away stamina. My 1 major gripe is the RoboCop gun being WAY to underpowered.

Nothing will be able to top mouse aiming in an FPS game. In that regard games like Goldeneye and Halo are responsible for popularizing console FPS games and thus ruining controls for those games due to PC ports/versions of shooters coming as a second-thought. Anon Gravity Rush and GR 2 is supper comfy in First Person mode. Gyroscope had more axis of rotation then what a mouse is capable of. If they perfect the technology it can be superior to potentially mouse aiming.

if you like any of the cheesy over the top action movies of the 80s (predator, commando, the chuck norris movies i can't remember the names of etc) you'll probably like it. gunplay is good enough, the upgrades are interesting enough to make you want to get them and try them, story is stupid but it's stupid in a fun way. it's a little too on the nose about "lmao look at this! look at how silly this game is! i mean we're trying to be serious but we're in on the joke too!" fourth wall breaking but otherwise it's easily the best far cry aside from 2

beat it in about 2 hours on first playthrough. fun as fuck.
second playthrough the next day, collected everything, got all uprgades and max level in about a hour and twelve minutes. still playing it, jokes are really funny for the setting and the cheesy humor is just great.
