The Ninja Warriors Again
>side-scrolling beat 'em up instead of the usual belt scrolling, lack of moving up and down is replaced with a higher emphasis on responding to standing/crouching attacks
>smaller playing area means you're constantly surrounded from left and right, grunts who can be killed in one hit by anything but can poke you keep spawning most of the time
>you can block, but only from one side, and either high or low blows, you even can block and backstep when stunlocked in combos
>enemy variety is good, you have kunoichis which keep doing somersaults in the air to get behind you and slash you while you are busy, gunmen which fire bullets either high or low, dragon ninjas which can breath fire at a longer range than your punches, mutants which can make themselves invulnerable to throws, robots which are invulnerable to punches from the front and need to be hit from behind or with throws, and so on
>enemies are damn aggressive, some attack near instantly as soon as you get in their range so it becomes a contest of spacing
>lack of space places a higher emphasis of throws as a means of crowd control, Ninja has very powerful throws but has a harder time recovering when knocked down and surrounded, whereas Kunoichi's throws aren't as versatile but her backstep lets her jump over enemies in an arc to get behind them and to reposition yourself to somewhere safer
>specials work like a smartbomb which knocks down all enemies, and it can only be used when the special gauge is full (which fills over time), but if you get knocked down when the gauge isn't completely full, it completely empties, so you need to work for it to be able to use it more than once
>you also have a special more damaging combo you can use when your gauge is full, but it takes up 25% energy and puts you at the risk of losing your entire gauge if you get knocked down before it fully recharges
>bosses often involve fighting regular enemies alongside the bosses so you can't win solely by exploiting the boss AI, the final boss can only be killed by throwing other enemies against him
>some of the best music on the SNES
Sin & Punishment
>3D rail shooter where you control your character simultaneously with the crosshair
>you can jump, doublejump, and roll through attacks, and there's many kinds of attacks
>your gun doubles as a sword which can hit nearby enemies, and can even reflect missiles back into the enemies
>it's fucking CRAZY, you fight some teenage girl who starts teleporting in soldiers in ridiculous numbers just to throw them at you, and after killing her Tokyo is engulfed in a tsunami of blood for no reason and you both transform into massive Evangelions for absolutely no reason just to fight eachother
>second stage involves fighting the psychic leader of the bad guys in an ace combat duel, except he's standing directly on top of his own plane to shoot you while controlling the plane itself, but then you are also standing on top of a levitating block of debris while decimating an entire battleship fleet with just your pistol in one of the most impressive and slowdown-inducing setpieces for the N64
>the final boss is a clone of the Earth itself which is trying to destroy the original Earth
>perfectly playable on Virtual Console using Dolphin
