Why should a king look like a hobo with tons of mismatched elements and colours like OOT one? OOT Ganon is no thief king, he is a king of evil. He needs armour. He should demand respect and, as such, a more subdued colouring as presented in the TP design works. Less colours, an armour, looks cooler, and has better hairstyle. This sort of hair doesn't just appear out of nowhere, TP Ganon must've taken care for his appearance - he displayed effort. Effort is an innate strength, which fits someone with Triforce of Power.

The Tikis really rubbed me the wrong way when I first played Returns. This is due to my bias: I really don't like inanimate objects getting googly eyes. Over time I've come to appreciate them, but I still find them incredibly weak.
The Snowmads were far better and they collectively had a great theme. But because most of the enemies you were up against are either penguins or Walruses, they were 100% very goofy and not a threat at all. Even worse, Lord Fredrik is as uninspired as they come: his boss fight patterns and threatening presence turned into out-of-place comedic mannerisms practically just rips from K. Rool's entire aesthetic and boss fight (seriously I was surprised how much his boss fight rips off K. Rool's fights). His fight theme is also really generic compared to the rest of the boss themes in the game which were FAR better (like Pompy and Bashmaster)
What I like about the Kremlings and K. Rool is that despite being goofy cartoonish villains they still have somewhat a threatening design due to them being reptiles, which i find far better by default then tikis or penguins/walruses. My only problem with the Kremlings is that they themselves don't really have a good theme song: all the good theme songs are K. Rool's themes instead.
Hopefully this pushes K. Rool to come to DKC.

Think of it this way. When they're together in the games, Kazooie can give Banjo a bit of extra air by flapping her wings. When they're separate, Kazooie can move quickly and spin her wings for further distance during jumps, and Banjo, too, can gain additional distance on his own by swinging his backpack. Make sense now?

Okay, the reason the Ice Climbers work is because they share the same moveset. During recovery, Nana helps Popo get back to the stage, and sometimes she can end up sacrificing herself in the process. They have a "tether" between them, both figuratively and literally. Banjo and Kazooie have no tether whatsoever and completely different movesets. So again, how does Kazooie's recovery move help Banjo get back to the stage? I'm assuming that when Banjo dies, Kazooie automatically is destroyed with him, so helping Banjo get back to the stage should be Kazooie's utmost priority when they're split up. But you haven't really demonstrated how Kazooie's wing spin helps Banjo get back to the stage.
Do they have a string or something that's keeping them attached together?

Simple. They are both attacks similar to Popo/Nana's hammer, and maybe Kazooie's wings provide a helpful updraft. So when Kazooie is knocked out, Banjo's backpack swing is less helpful and doesn't do as much damage on its own.

DKC2 still has the best DKC soundtrack, but I don't consider them Kremling themes anymore then I consider many of the level themes in Returns to be Tikis themes.
For one, the Kremlings do not have a shared motif and any theme that can be considered their's changes in every game. Tikis have a motif of every time they hypnotize someone, which I like. The Snowmad's literally have a "Snowmad's Theme", which plays in the opening movie as well is snuck in to many tracks in the last world. In comparison, Snakey Chantey is a remix of Gangplank Galleon, a K. Rool theme, and the title screen for DKC2, "K. Rool returns", is also mostly associated more with K. Rool and Klubba. Crocodile Isle and Lost World Anthem are hub world themes whose motif is never used again and theme never heard of again outside of DKC2.
The Kremlings really do not have a central popular theme that can be called their own, one that is very popularly associated with them or any motif that has carried on outside of one game. All of their great themes are more associated with K. Rool himself.

even with the super mario series the music gets shuffled around plenty often, especially earlier on. if im not mistaken, between mario bros 2 and mario sunshine we didnt hear "the" mario bros theme in a mainline game, and even in those two cases it was more of a bonus level theme. the underground and star music are in just about every game though.
as for bowser, it took them until mario galaxy to decide the doom ship music was going to be his fanfare. yet i think we still associate the music with certain characters, even if they were only in one game or take a while to reappear.
