You can set it up so people can't join unless they are playing on a certain core, or restrict explosive usage or only allow server side characters so no one comes in with post moonlord gear and boss rushes while everyone else is still looking for boots and clouds in bottles.

They should overhaul the whole world gen system to allow for more interesting generation. You could have interesting underground biomes where the terrain actually generates differently, not just slapping around a chunk of shit like the granite/marble or replacing a chunk of the world with jungle/ice biome or whatever. There should be several cave biomes that generate in random patterns, with some rare ones as well.

Odds are everyone is gonna use Heart Crystals they find. Or if one player loads up on Heart Crystals it'll make the boss harder, but if they do beat it- everyone is gonna jump up in HP super fast.

Only thing giving me issues was the Alchemist NPC thing, regardless of whether I tried downloading it from the Mod Browser or web it tried to download it again when I connected to the server then gave me the same message as >>15287092 . You're sure all the versions of the mods you had on your server were up to date? It might be causing some fuckery if you had slightly out of date versions.

I generally just use MaxStackPlus to simplify storage, not actually used Magic Storage before but I just want to try playing with others for once so anything suits me really.

Thorium fits into the base game pretty well.

Only complaint is how many new NPCs it throws at you, since all of them are early in the game. Means I have to build twice as much as I normally would at that point in the adventure.

The current crafting system makes automation obsolete, since you can just sit next to a row of crafting stations, open a chest to see tons of crafting recipes, an hold a button to craft hundreds of that item per second.

Factorio style crafting would work, where items take N seconds to craft. That would prompt you to automate things so you can just grab torches/arrows/bricks/whatever from a chest when you need them.

Make a room with a bed, right? Then stick an actuator on one of the walls so that it makes the room invalid. Now when you stand on top of a weighted pressure plate connected to the actuator, because the room is invalid you warp back to the center of the world. But as soon as you warp back, the bedroom becomes valid again, so you can use this to warp back and forth between the bedroom and your original spawn point. Handy for accessing another part of the world fast without laying down a ton of rail or wire for teleporters.

They're wrong, but I would say the Angler's droprates are still worse if only because you get one quest per in-game day. You can find and kill plenty of turtles in a day, but can only catch and turn-in just one Clownfish or Skelefish or whatever.

If you want a safe subterranean base, just make sure area underneath it is some bottomless lava pit of suffering, and there are some gaps on the sides. Okay so I was shitposting about mediumcore, just play softcore. Small worlds are kinda shitty, they may miss features and you might end up short on a few accessories. Medium is good. Large might be too sparse for your first time. Maybe make a small world to mess around in? Probably best to just go with medium.

Cactuses are a building material. Useless after the very very beginning, but cactus and differents trees make different quality swords. Once you get to Corruption stuff, wood is useless - however, Corrupted Wood and Boreal or Cactus make excellent beginner swords. Try to make a full armor set for a minor set bonus.

Here's a spoiler about earlygame progression:

Not particularly. Part of the benefit of playing on softcore is that the only thing you lose when you die is money. Considering that, just go for it and experiment. The only other pieces of advice I would give is:

You can set auto pause in the settings menu, which will pause the game when you open your inventory. It can be handy when you're trying to get used to the game.

Valid housing requires you to build walls behind the enclosed rooms. you can check if a room is valid housing by opening your inventory, pressing the house icon over your equipped items on the right side of the screen, pressing the question mark button, and then clicking inside the room you want to house someone.

Lastly, new people will only show up if there is housing for them to move into.

The Musket is the only case I would say where Corruption is outrigh superior, but Crimson has less annoying and less hazardous navigation, for the most part its chalked up to preference.

Also, worlds generated using the Server executable don't give you the choice between corruption or crimson last I checked, so if every server you played on had a servergenerated world, then thats just a streak of chance.

You forgot that the corruption has the band of starpower which is needed to make the mana regeneration band, which makes the magic cuffs, which in turn makes the celestial cuffs.

Also you can only make thorns potion on a corrupt world since you need worm teeth.

The Scarf is also nice well into hardmode and Corruption worlds are much easier to obtain Vitamins on (for an Ankh Shield). Also the Corruption biome chest weapon is much better than the Crimson biome chest weapon.

I think turret summons are less useful than they seem, their damage output is completely eclipsed by other weapons in the same tier. Only the endgame ones feel truly worth using to me.

Ironically the 15th wave is actually the easiest one once you get the right gear. I stand on conveyor belts which bring all the hearts to the center where I stand. Since only Pumpkings and Mourning Woods spawn on that wave, they will each drop a ton of hearts when they die, healing you almost to full. The AI is kind of dumb so they will all pile in on top of you doing contact damage which is the weakest type. That is where solar eruption comes in with infinite pierce, allowing you to hit all the bosses on top of and above you at the same time. When you are full health move to the left or right of center and let the hearts build up for a while and then go back to collect them all when you start to take damage. I did this on expert.

Spectre boots, double jump item, feather fall potions. If you're in expert then jump in circles around him to avoid the projectiles, cthulhu shield may help too.

It'll be tough without at least some horizontal space to run left and right when he chases you.
