>Because the companies aren't licensing the characters out.
Yes they are. There are a bunch of Iron Man and Captain America games but they're all shit. There are a bunch of Superman and Flash games but they're all shit. Okay some of the 16-bit ones were okay but nothing worth writing home about.

Which is weird because the recent Batman games aren't media tie ins and they're super successful. The first one could have been a Dark Knight tie in if WB forced them to release it a bit earlier, but they didn't and it was a hit. So you'd think they'd learn from this. Plus the first two 3D Spider-Man games were great and successful. The first Spider-Man movie game is pretty much a sequel to them. But I guess the higher success of that game, and monstrous success of Spider-Man 2, was enough to make them forget about earlier successes, even though the success of Spider-Man 2 obviously had nothing to do with the movie. The game was barely related to the movie and was mostly about Mysterio, with Doc Ock basically being the worst sidequest.
Also, InFamous was just about white Static, and it did well.

DC already tried that. It didn't stick. They brought Barry back and everyone was mad. Then they erased Wally so Barry wouldn't be outshone by him. Then people kept complaining so they brought Wally back but he was completely rebooted and was a black kid now. Then people kept complaining so they brought back original Wally and explained that black Wally was his cousin who just also happened to be called Wally. DC listens to their fans a lot more than modern Marvel, and they have a long history of returning to the status quo and making everything ever canon, despite being known for huge reboots that change everything. When it comes to DC, everything that was ever canon continues to be canon. If they say they rebooted but don't say what was changed, then nothing was changed except for the things they specifically point out. And you can bet that all the stuff that was changed will end up coming back anyway, even if it means characters now have two sets of memories for their own pasts.

But guns are used to kill other people. Cigarettes are used to kill yourself. Unless you're forcing someone else to smoke like in a sitcom where a dad catches his son smoking or something. Also, we do lock up people for speeding and letting their dangerous dogs hurt people, and fine them for recycling. Barry is being an idiot here, especially since he is a cop and he's basically just saying he shouldn't do his own job. Barry being relatively conservative makes sense. He should be a by the books cop. But these examples are just dumb.
Barry is like Murtagh from Lethal Weapon, and Hal Jordan is like Riggs. Barry in the tv show sucks because he's just some hipster faggot and they make him incredibly immature, so he has no personality to his own. Because we can't have a hero who is just an old school by the books cop, because that is "boring" and "problematic." Though of course you can give that character tons of conflict in trying to follow the books properly. But fuck it. We'll go a step further in the movies and have him be the most jewish man in the world.
