There were some truly devoted shills screeching about that in the threads we had. What actually happened is that the game's main mechanical focus is the Gougi system, which can be unlocked by doing specific things over the course of a game. They bear a superficial resemblance to SFxT gems and the balance isn't perfect, but the game is meant to be pretty goofy, and there are so many variables it's tough to say anything concrete about the Gougi decks, aside from Babel being too good and Miracle being too bad.

It didn't have a regular arcade mode and all it's CPU vs stuff/survival mode was in Training mode's menu options instead of the conventional main menu.
They ended up patching it Arcade Mode 2 weeks later and are gonna patch in 2 characters plus 2 stages later this month or early September for free.
Also the SFxT gem stuff was nonsense tho. The game was sold two ways; The standard version which was the full game that was intended to be the regular release and the light version for people who were on the fence about the game. The light version knocked 20 bucks off the standard price but removed one character (who was a ken tier clone of a character already in the roster) and 10 gougi decks which was the real meat and potatoes of the game. You were able buy the missing shit at any point and every week or two they let you try two gougi decks so if you can try before you buy. The gougi system is barely anything like SFxT's gems it's closer to Melty Blood's moons or Arcana Heart's Arcana system

I know nothing about the character. I've only watched the Walking Dead for the first season (which was good) and part of the second (which was shit). I think the actor has a pretty cool voice, but the description of the character seems really cringy. Naming a weapon a common name just screams "look how crazy he is ecks dee". I'll have to see how he actually plays, but it'll take a lot for the game to convince me that his inclusion is a net positive.
I'm more excited for Anna and Lei, not because I care about those characters (I don't), but because I figured we'd never get any of the characters who didn't make it in the T7 roster (because with their exception, all the DLC so far has been muh crossovers).

Remember that back in time, Harada himself said that fighting games shouldn't have paid DLC characters because like in chess, all the players should have access to all the pieces without locking anything under a paywall, and he was talikng about ALL characters, regardless of them being new, OGs or guests.

This is what drove me away from the Walking Dead, honestly. I'm down for shit that repeats, you know - one of my favorite authors repeats the same shit a lot. But he does it for a purpose, and has his characters learn from shit. The Walking Dead cast has been repeating the same bullshit without learning anything for season after season, the plot is going nowhere, and they can't tell if they want to have the zombies be a joke or a serious plot point half of the time. Character development, where it exists, is cyclical - Rick goes from "good guy" to "psycho" to "sad" to "psycho" to "sad" and back and forth. And every time, his "current state" happens to be whatever fucks over the main characters the most, leading to a situation where characterization doesn't exist for its own sake, but for the sake of the plot. And I could almost put up with it, just to keep up with pop culture - until the negress hopped on his dick.
Webm's of Negan shoving people into ovens is the only thing left worthwhile from the show. It's no wonder why people consider him the best character.
