I finished both Kara no shojo games and its prequel and I hereby proclaim Innocent grey to be amongst the most evil of VN developers. I am just disgusted at the lengths they go to disturb their players. What is wrong with them? But at the same time I do wholeheartedly recommend them as I did enjoy how human the characters were, the ambiguous parts to be reasonable and the mysteries to be honest with the game not being afraid of letting the player deduce the truth before the protagonist does.

So the reason why they censored out the loli rape scene in Trample On Schatten was due to laws. Of course, the store front for JAST USA is in the US. Unless this is some bizarre law in one or two states, I don't see why this would matter as many VNs have gotten away with of loli rape, bestiality, and other things.

I have a hard time believing the amount of people who enjoy self-inserting as a complete loser and the amount of stories with complete loser MCs is proportional.
In the first place, how many people even self-insert? I do somewhat take the non-PC characters' dialogue as targeted towards me if I turn my brain off, but I definitely don't associate with how the PC responds. Even if they have a similar character to my own, I just enjoy that the VN is moving along as I'd like, I don't altogether feel as though I am somehow part of the story after making the puny 5-6 choices hours most bishoujo VNs have.

PC games don't have to be rated for one. Second, the ESRB has no control on what content is censored or not. They simply look at the content and give the rating. It's the AO rating and the fact that console publishers don't allow AO games on consoles which makes it so bad. Even then, the AO rating isn't usually handed to games that's not blatant pornography because they're not actually that offensive. It's mainly because enough commotion was made to give it an AO rating like with Hatred. This was just an obvious intent to essentially remove the game as the AO rating is used as a weapon and not a simple rating.

I have to say, after replaying the earlier parts of this VN I have a newfound appreciation for all the little details it has.
The very first choice in it reverberates first 30 and then 60 choices later on, probably even further and many older scenes, even if seemingly unimportant do get referenced.
Hell, the imouto gets into a fit because she smells perfume on the protag that only Maiko is supposed to use, but the loli has it as well.
There is a choice to introduce the two a lot earlier than necessary, so I really have to wonder how a lot of those plot points play out if she knows there is another girl.
I also accidentally got on the imouto route while exploring, but I'm going to stick with the loli as planned.

So in order to localize it they changed it to "ba-Dump Dynamo" since "ba-dump" is the English equivalent. Why not keep it doki-doki since it's all in Japan anyway? I don't know. But it's not a bad change, honestly, and after recent freeware trash I think a lot of us are getting tired of doki-doki anything. Matter of opinion, of course.

Unlike in usual VNs where there are multiple writers who each have a route or two but work together with common universals for the story (character personality, history, any major events that take place which would impact all routes (a festival for example), etc.), Katawa Shoujo didn't have that.
The anon-driven production behind it is nutorious for in-fighting, complaining, tons of hissy fits, certain writers not wanting the characters they were given, and overall a constant struggle for cohesion and getting the job done.
It's a marvel the game came out as well as it did, honestly.
In the end you can't go into Katawa Shoujo thinking it is like usual visual novels. It isn't. It's a Frankenstein's Monster that will tug at your heartstrings one minute and piss you off the next, not only because of the well written parts but because of the deluge of inconsistency.
So no, there is no way the MC can be /fit/ in other routes (since that's an Emi exclusive thing) and there's also no way of having the MC behave in Rin's route like he does in Lilly's route, or in Deaf Girl's route like he does in Best Girl's route. Think of each route as its own parallel reality with a different iteration of Hiseo, each iteration more corrupted than the last, like inter-dimensional clone degradation.

I forgot to mention, the loli and Maiko happen to use the same perfume. Surely, it's just a coincidence though.
This caused a lot of confusion and frustration for the imouto before, because she didn't know from whom the smell was coming from and didn't know the loli existed at the time.
Interestingly enough, you can introduce the loli to the imouto earlier if you want, so a lot of the later scenes probably play out differently.

Don't forget that she hallucinated the voice of the protag's deceased mother that time (who led her to the sword), so she was far too gone at that point.

It's the only supernatural thing in the story that isn't merely a hallucination (she and the protag acknowledge it) that also ties into reoccurring themes (like the color red) and explains much of the imouto's struggle (literally making her go crazy).

SubaHibi was… disappointing. It's apparent that it (and its fans) desperately wants to be deep and philosophical, but it doesn't really live up to that expectation. Whereas other VNs might offer you a short one-or-two sentence explanation on perception and solipsism in case you don't already understand it and then move on with the plot, SubaHibi will repeatedly hammer you with essays about it, complete with quotes from psychologists and philosophers. It doesn't add anything to the story, and instead actually bogs down and overly-foreshadows the reveals in an otherwise somewhat interesting core tale.
Maybe it's just that so many VNs have focused on deceptive perception as a key element in their mysteries and plot points that it feels like old hat now.

That's where I stopped, here is why: a bit earlier I took a peek at the minimalist guide (there are 2, the other has full explanations) to see if I was going in the right direction. It doesn't actually list any choices.
But what it did tell me was that besides the parameters for the main girls, there are two more: cruelty and lust, which, I imagine, also dictate how the story progresses.
The problem here is that I abused the imouto a little too harshly, but I think I can just start all over again, treat her nicely and still get to continue the story. I think.
I just wanted to move the plot forward, not get the imouto into a rape dungeon.

Despite the forced route tag on vndb, the guide states that you can move from the loli route you start at to another at certain points (unless I'm reading it wrong).

Holy shit, Bunny Black was such a disappointment. The early/mid game is super grindy. The combat is shit. The unit management is a joke since the units available are either decent or complete shit. The AI is trash. Imagine a healer with a small single target heal, a big single target heal, a small, a medium and big group full. Imagine your tank just got hit for 1 point of damage in the first battle of your dungeon delve. What is your healer going to do? Use its fucking group heal. But if you're fighting a boss, and everyone is seriously damaged? IMMA CAST MY SMALL HEAL ON THE GUY THAT TAKES 5% OF HIS HEALTH FROM THE BOSS' ATTACKS INSTEAD OF ANY FUCKING OTHER TARGET IN THE GROUP. AOE HEAL? NAH FUCK YOU! But that doesn't matter once you max out your commander skills. A few hours in and you just stop taking damage from anything but bosses. Another hour or two in and you max your protective spells and nothing does damage to you. Makes the game super fucking easy. I 3 shot the last boss. Hell, I could've solo'd his ass with the MC without breaking a sweat. And that's going out of my way to avoid grinding and fighting as much as possible. And that's focusing on making the MC a support/leader/healer. Most of the girls get brutally raped and fall in love with the MC, but the rape scenes lack any of the charm/humour/wit that would be present in a Rance game. I've read moege with better story. I've read moege that had girls with more personality than what this game offers. Only halfway decent girl in the whole thing was Meryl.
Also tried out Noble Works. Really makes me wish the vndb had a god damn moege tag.

Tried this out, "Tomboys need love to." Wouldn't recommend it. Story is melodramatic, Chris (the tomboy) does have some personality but she plays second fiddle to Kai who is Harem protag levels lacking in self-awareness. Sophie (the other girl) is a Thot and it's over in like 2 hours.
Spoilering because art looks like it's from tumblr.
I mean, I know I shouldn't expect Yuuji or Yamato from my protags but they really are infinity better than Kai, they have actual agency where he spend 90% of the story being passive. And while Chris did remind me of Miyako a bit, she's still better simply because she had a longer story, hence more character development.
Wasted potential really. Felt like a first project when it could have been more if the creator didn't put in anime tropes and lengthened the story a bit.

Sophie's a thot, her whole story revolves around Kai having a crush on her much to chris's chargin, she pretends to be the perfect student but Kai hears rumors of her stealing boyfriends. He find her like that in the toilets after some of the girls take revenge on her, they get suspended, she cuts her hair short and tries to steal Kai away from Chris but I went good ending and he eventually wised up and ran away after chris saw them together on their first date. That's a basic summery of the story. If you do pursue Sophie, you find out all those rumors are true, she dumps you and moves onto her next boy like the slag she is.
Chris is actually pretty reasonable though, trying to get Kai's attention, wishing that he'd only think of her while walking home from school, which again is why she reminded me of Miyako and her one sided love of Yamato. The only bad side is that it's too short, she was developing a good personality but then she gets angry, runs off, wants to break up, Kai gets a back bone, go home, have sex, fast forward to wedding cg, the end.

Just letting everyone know the Adult filter is turned on by default you need to turn it on. Click your username then store preferences and then check Adult Only Sexual Content. You should then be able to see games that have 18+ games on there. Also you can ignore devs especially Sekai on the recommended Feed by going to their Developer page and clicking the gear on the right hand side. It should say ignore or report.
