In HW2 they just prevent hyperspacing in. I wonder why many people (not on imageboards) prefer 2 to 1, if it's such a downgrade.

Earth 2150 and 2160 both have lots of creative ideas, but they've mostly just thrown ideas at the wall and seen what sticked. Like in webm related; missiles are physical objects and have to be shot in an arc if there are obstacles in the way. It sucks that you need to upgrade them for tracking, though.

Aerial units not only were available from the start, they didn't require any research (since the faction don't have any) and while you had to clone the first ship and then make a transitional ship that used metal instead of crystals, THEN you could right away make shielded fighters in fours that were pretty good or make shielded cruisers that had also point defence, a lot of weapons and were strong, but also could evolve further, into a ship that was shittier against buildings, but was even tankier and had even more lasers and PD, or into a ship that could only delete buildings, but deleted them very vast and was pretty tanky too. The big issue with their ships is that you had to use massed AA missiles, as energy AA bounced back at you and too little missiles would get shot down by PD. Basically what if you could make pretty quickly mobile, tanky flyers that countered AA. Oh, and they were completely divorced economically from ground units, you build them concurrently instead of focusing on one or the other.

ED base building at least could get improved by letting any connect to any, but UCS is a fucking tragedy, stupidly huge bases that provide little supply limit.
Speaking of LC, they had it kinda bad, since they couldn't upgrade their units, had limited underground capability (even if it's very situational itself), and didn't really have the raw power of plasma or utility of ED energy weapons. Fuck them for building their bases all over the map too.
