I recently started playing Ghost Babel, and it's great! The story and gameplay is more akin to MG2, which is honestly superior to MGS. I have very high hopes for this game. I'm playing it on an emulator on my PSP, and whenever I go into alert the guards sprites turn scrambled like missingno from Pokemon Red, and I don't know if it's the emulator or if it's intentional. It's a minor issue, and optimally I shouldn't be going into alert, but it's just kind of annoying.

It wasn't incompetent, and I didn't completely hate MG, but I think only big fans of the series should play it.

any hopes from Konami to release an MGS game? Money grab or not I really want to see Raiden's story after MGS2, and also Revolver Ocelot after MGS5 along with Kaz and maybe Gray Fox.
in 4, Solid Snake was so out of character. I really liked MGS2 Snake and I think putting him out of main character to view his personality a bit more was a good choice. Solid Snake had the good guy and big brother personality in MGS2 and I was hoping I could see him again in MGS4 but what I got is depressed and mute old guy with no personality.

can someone explain Liquid Ocelot's goals? Big Boss kinda said that it's not Liquid Snake, it's actually Revolver Ocelot acting like a terrorist too trick (((Patriots))). I also read/heard that Liquid Ocelot was actually helping snake to defeat (((Patriots))). It might be true but the fact that Liquid Ocelot has its moments where Snake was almost dead. For example, when he gets the Outer Haven ship and "ROAD KILL SNAKE". Was Raiden stopping the whole fucking tank to save Snake thing a part of plan too? And why? There were lots of moments where Liquid Ocelot hurted Snake for no reason. Not just that, why would you go THAT far anyway? Just fool the (((Patriots))) lightly and do some actual thing to help Snake. Or rather, just join Snake and defeat the (((Patriots))). Wouldn't that be easier?

supposedly a guy who worked on MGSV said that on top of figuring out the new engine and how to make everything work properly konami was deadset on making it compatible for previous gen consoles which were obsolete at the time resulting in massive cuts to the game's design.
So instead of being able to make giant human filled bases and elaborate set pieces we got mostly empty fields and barely populated levels.
The dev also points out that the game would've needed a bit more time but god knows if the yakuza-lite at konami had seen the more advanced product with lots of cool shit in it they may have been more likely to give the team a bit more time to really finish it off.

4e5cba No.15271312
We are formless. We are the very discipline and morality that Americans invoke so often. How can anyone hope to eliminate us? As long as this nation exists, so will we. Don't you know that our plans have your interests – not ours – in mind? The mapping of the human genome was completed early this century. As a result, the evolutionary log of the human race lay open to us. But there are things not covered by genetic information
Human memories, ideas. Culture. History.
Is it something that should not be passed on? Should that information be left at the mercy of nature? But not all the information was inherited by later generations. A small percentage of the whole was selected and processed, then passed on. Not unlike genes, really.
But in the current, digitised world, trivial information is accumulating every second, preserved in all its triteness. Never fading, always accessible. All this junk data preserved in an unfiltered state, growing at an alarming rate. You seem to think that our plan is one of censorship. However what we propose to do is not to control content, but to create context.
The digital society furthers human flaws and selectively rewards the development of convenient half-truths. Just look at the strange juxtapositions of morality around you. Rights of criminals are given more respect than the privacy of their victims. Billions spent on new weapons in order to humanely murder other humans. Although there are people suffering in poverty, huge donations are made to protect endangered species. Everyone grows up being told the same thing. "Be nice to other people." "But beat out the competition!" "You're special." "Believe in yourself and you will succeed." But it's obvious from the start that only a few can succeed…
You exercise your right to "freedom" and this is the result. All rhetoric to avoid conflict and protect each other from hurt. The untested truths spun by different interests continue to churn and accumulate in the sandbox of political correctness and value systems. Everyone withdraws into their own small gated community, afraid of a larger forum. They stay inside their little ponds, leaking whatever "truth" suits them into the growing cesspool of society at large. The different cardinal truths neither clash nor mesh. No one is invalidated, but nobody is right. Not even natural selection can take place here. The world is being engulfed in "truth."
And this is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper.
We're trying to stop that from happening. It's our responsibility as rulers. Just as in genetics, unnecessary information and memory must be filtered out to stimulate the evolution of the species. Who else could wade through the sea of garbage you people produce, retrieve valuable truths and even interpret their meaning for later generations?
That's what it means to create context.
You lack the qualifications to exercise free will. That which you call "self" serves as nothing more than a mask to cover your own being. In this era of ready-made 'truths', "self" is just something used to preserve those positive emotions that you occasionally feel… Another possibility is that "self" is a concept you conveniently borrowed under the logic that it would endow you with some sense of strength…
The individual is supposed to be weak. But far from powerless – a single person has the potential to ruin the world. And the age of digitized communication has given even more power to the individual. Too much power for an immature species. Building a legacy involves figuring out what is wanted, and what needs to be done for that goal. All this, you used to struggle with. Now, we think for you.
Anything can be quantified nowadays.

I should elaborate on my post: at the very least the 10 NPC limit part (though I think it was a bit more than 10) and the ridiculous Mother Base strut spacing part IS true. Remember that FOX Engine was started getting developed right after MGS4 was finished in 2008 (http://archive.is/62VLt) and initially MGSV was being developed for the pastgen. MGSV was ported to PS4, PC, and XBone, not the other way around. The part about broken physics is most probably false, since Metal Gear Solid: Rising (before becoming MGR) was being developed on the FOX Engine and it seems it had pretty neat physics back then, judging by the videos.
While I do believe that the game should've just abandoned pastgen entirely after moving to currentgen or, better yet, wait a bit and start developing for the currentgen in the first place, by Q4 2013 the game and its engine were being developed for almost 5 years (believe what you will if sacking Kojimbo for taking too long or spending too much money was justified or not).
Also, if datamining had revealed the cut attack dogs (in GZ as well), Kingdom of the Flies bits and other stuff, there should've been at least some leftovers of whatever was written in that LARPer's post, unless they were cut before all of that was put in the game, in which case proofs of their existence will probably never appear. The funny thing is, the entire post would've been definitely proven true or false if he had written about Chico.

i honestly wouldnt know one way or the other, but if konami really wanted kojima, practically their lead talent to create an engine that was more versatile and useful for other games, that would not be a surprise.
Why shouldn't the most well known japanese studio in the west, who regularly visits the united states, not have an "unreal engine" that they could sell and license to other studios?
But this hearsay is a little hard to believe as it seems to cater to the curiousities of an otherwise unsatisfied fanbase.
Maybe that's all we need to know, but for someone to post these things in perfect english and claim to be so close to the developer seems a little bit suspicious.
Then again, I met hk once in person and his closest collaborators spoke perfectly good english….i, just, can't imagine any of those guys who knew him personally doing a qa like this.

As for English, there was a Los Angeles KojiPro division that was working on MGO3, but it was established quite far into the game's development, in 2013. I understand that the fanbase will forever be upset with MGSV and I'm one of them, but I'd rather believe officially released material or datamined stuff rather than near-NeverBeGameOver-tier crap. Hell, around half a year ago one anon was spouting bullshit about cut content for Deus Ex and a lot of people actually believed him, despite him stating in the very same thread that he was baiting.

I should add that if MGSV had this editor open to the public, along with some tools to tinker with scripts, gameplay, AI, etc., I seriously think it would compete with ARMA 3 on moddability (Bethesdashit is a bit of a different league).

As bad as MGSV got fucked, I don't think the current consensus of "Konami only ruined it" is going to be the lasting one after Death Stranding gets released. Plenty of talented artists and filmmakers needed an asshole producer to reign in their worst excesses to get shit done. Kojima, fully freed from restriction, is about to drop a celebrity filled walking simulator. Metal Gear's ridiculous side was always grounded in soldiers shooting bad dudes. Deaths Stranding… it is a red flag when the people involved in making a game don't know what the game is about. I would love to be wrong.

We might have higher chance of unsatisfied fans did all that in unreal engine as an opensource project.

I agree with you regarding reigning in as far as keeping things going and am a firm believer in restrictions resulting in the greatest creativity but until we actually get something more about DS I'll remain cautiously optimistic. I have a hard time imaging sony letting him totally off-leash.

If you like the series, play Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
If you still want to play Metal Gear 1(MSX) then do so, but really, REALLY?…don't bother.

fuck it's going to be cringe, there's no way around it. Also I'm pretty sure that either the director or the writer ran his mouth on twitter (as usual) about socjus related crap.
It'd make a better mini-series or three-part thing if they did it because there's no way you're cramming all the ideas in MGS into one flick but who am I kidding

All things considered, this really isn't that bad. the only problem is they'll see metal gear as a property ip made for inbred retards and not take it at all seriously…assume fans love the series' signature excesses, and make a piece of shit film to blame on the fans

2 but I've played 3 the most.
I've been thinking about getting around to playing Peace Walker again, but the only thing that is holding me back is that I remember being unable to survive Strangelove's torture despite having no problems with any other torture in the series.
