I have both Alien Shooter 1 and 2 on GOG and they have both the same problem: they throw so much crap at you that you begin running out of ammo. And the missions take way too long for this type of game. I am not sure whether you can save during the missions, it has been a long time since I played Alien Shooter.

I played Alien Shooter 2 years ago and don't remember ammo problems. I'm pretty sure you could buy ammo and the game only escalated enemies between missions after you had a chance to upgrade your guns so you would need less ammo to kill more aliens.
You should be using more than one gun, upgrading smartly and buying ammo. I don't imagine running out of ammo if you do that.
