We’re creating a video game in RPG Maker VX Ace together with other anons.

Here’s how it works.

Everyone is taking turns downloading the newest version of the game, making contributions before reuploading it for someone else to work on it. Only one person can actively work on it at a time. This is because if two people make overlapping changes to the database, scripts or switches, they will conflict resulting in one person having to redo all their work. Changes to the map and events can be copy-pasted from one version of a project to another so you’re free to work on new maps and new events if its not your turn and add them to the current version of the game once it is your turn.

It should work like this. OP posts newest version of the map. The first person (Anon #1) to respond to OP stating that he’s going to work on it becomes the active game dev. Once Anon #1 finishes and re-uploads it, the first person to respond to him gets to work on it. So on and so forth. Additionally, whenever you re-upload a new version, reply to the anchor post, it’ll make things a lot easier.

General Rules

>Don’t mess with maps, events or anything else you didn’t make. Although, adding minor stuff like a connection between two areas or fixing bugs and typos is all fine.

>If you’re ok with others editing your stuff, leave a note saying so.

>You’re free to add characters and the like, to the inter-dimensional tavern.

>You’re also free to make changes to game settings, unless its something we’ve agreed upon (we’ll probably do this via a poll)

I think that we should really fix Gondola village from being so annoying, and the change would be really easy to make. I don't know if the anon who made the location is in the thread, but I think that he wouldn't really mind if he made the really small change of changing the random encounters to NPC's that try to catch you on the map and in turn, make it so that you have to fight them if they do.

Got this at the end of a battle. Also, the battle log is black but with a gray background, which makes it hard to see. Most dialog is color-coded white, so that will need to be fixed as well.

I'm in exam season at the moment and I'll be busy with gibs applications all weekend for my next semester of classes.

I know where this probably is, I'll need to look around to see what exactly caused it though.

I assume the color-coded parts refers to the font color changes in the event messages. That's easy enough to fix, but depending on how much use that got, I wonder if it would be less work to just change the default back to color 0, set color 0 to black, and some unused color to white. Then change any instances where the text is actually supposed to be white to use that color instead of color 0.

Okay, so even if most of my "work" was just playing the game and laughing, I am very impressed with the number of actual finished things in the game so far; I honestly thought this would be another Anton & Coolpecker but this could probably be finished before I die of old age. Add in a side quest where you fight a bunch of weird ms paint drawings after losing all your weapins/helpers/stuff kind of like in that one fallout new vegas dlc. Then you have to use like /k/ weapons such as gyrojet pistols, that one always jamming 9mm submachine gun with the triple mags, an elephant gun, meme russian guns, etc. Then you can add in something to balance the game as a reward.

Your script is really cool-looking, but the game is unplayable and unplaytestable because battles crash it and colour [0] is white on blue with no outline, which makes reading difficult in windows with character headers ("Anon", etc.). You need to fix this or the game will be in limbo.

Oddly, I noticed a couple things while testing the Redditumblr Ward:

>the default colour is black text

>using the command \c[0] sets it to white text, which the preview dialogue shows as having a black outline but which doesn't in the game itself

>using the command \c[15] sets it bold black text, which is muddy

I tried to see if there was a way to end the text formatting like in HTML with <b> and </b> rather than declaring a new colour, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I don't know what your script looks like, but I think you could solve the issue by either:

That doesn't need to be done, you can set the numbers to whatever color you want and the default color to whatever number you want. I just need to change white to black and black to white, then fix a couple of my changes. If the outline is being re-activated mid-textbox, I can probably track that down and stop that from happening. I have a rough idea of where to look and what to look for.

Okay. Surprisingly, the battle engine crashing doesn't seem to be my fault. Whoever added Yanfly's battle engine, it overrides col_max with $game_party.max_battle_members, which is used in the default Window_Selectable class as a denominator. It must be set to 0, which is why it crashes the game. So I need to know, is there a specific battle that does this, or does it affect all battles?

Going to look at fixing the battle log colors clashing in the meantime.

Update: Fixed the dark font on dim or transparent message background. It now changes the window skin to use the old color palette, so all colors on dim or transparent messages should appear as originally intended. I also made it so that the window skin is automatically defaulted back to Yotsuba B when the message window closes or is hidden, so nothing else should be broken by this. As a plus, if you decide you want to use an alternate window skin like Yotsuba, you only have to set it prior to opening a message box, as it should be reset automatically when the box closes.

I noticed the battle fuckup does not happen if you end the battle without doing anything (F8).

OP here. Sorry I haven't been active lately, I've been pretty busy with real life things. But since I bet most people here are unifags and contribution is going to continue to be relatively slow, I think it would be prudent to make something with a bit more permanence than a single thread on /v/ that has to be repeatedly necrobumped every few days. I'm always kind of reminded of what happened to Anton & Coolpecker once the devs retreated from /v/, but there are plenty of smaller boards like /fascist/, /polk/, and /bane/ that still have active users. I think everyone who wants to contribute already has (and if you're reading this and you haven't, DO IT FAGGOT)

A separate board would probably be for the better. Having just a single thread runs a real risk of losing stuff if Mark/a vol deletes the thread by accident, or one of us forgets to bump it.

As I already said on the board OP, keep making those threads to keep the project updated but still take care of the board. I think you should create an archive thread for the versions as well and write down the rule of the board in a pinned topic.

Alright, so I seriously overestimated how much time I would have to work on this thing. And for that, I'm sorry.

Otherwise, I laid the groundwork for a very large and significant new quest line that I have roughly planned out in my head, that continues on from winter-chan land. I also made a few small fixes to winter-chan land itself, based on the feedback I got a few threads ago.
