How different would the MMO landscape be if Everquest online adventures for PS2 was a hit? It was only big first party MMORPG for consoles at the time that haven’t been cancelled.

The best part is when your provider requires you to additionally configure internet connection on PC, but console just doesn't provide such options. And you don't have router yet.

I still that why people still remember early online gaming on PS2 and Xbox fondly. Even shit games still had good communities. EOA isn’t a good game. But it had a good community that kept the game alive. It harder to get online back than. That why people took it more seriously. Hell tony hank pro skateboarder use to have a online community that revival halo 2. Believe it or not.

It would have done significantly better if it could connect to the same servers as the PC version. That's part of what made FF11 take off

Everquest online adventures wasn’t the same game as the Original PC Everquest. EOA was a prequel to the PC game and was more action focus.

well shit, I didn't know that. I had thought they just made a port of the PC version and failed to give it access to the thriving PC community. It was kind of marketed as such

You think that bad. You should look up EOA dev interviews. The previews the graphics looked as good as PC Everquest before it was downgraded for PS2. Than it graphically looked like a ugly third person Runescape. Also i am not sure if the PS2 keyboard was released outside of japan.

I heard the first Socom navy seals could run on dial up.

You didn't need one. Any standard USB keyboard worked fine, and it was up to the developers to add in support on a per-game basis. I don't remember if EQOA had it… but it probably did. FFXI and PSU definitely had keyboard support.

It was only systems that had no USB ports (NGC/Dreamcast) or modified USB ports (Xbox) that you needed to buy adapters or special proprietary keyboards. Even then, they were still just standard keyboards with a proprietary plugin and sold for a premium.
