Are there and android games with actual depth? Preferably with no microtransactions and either free or piratable.
I'm getting a new phone that for once is only a year old instead of a sizable fraction of a decade and as I have a lot of spare time at my job would like something to fill the long hours at night to slow down my consumption of ebooks.

I only saw 1 when I browsed. There's also stuff like X-com, Final Fantasy 7, and Indigo Prophecy of all titles. The problem is the interface and lack of optimization. Most people in the comments are bitching that the games are barely compatible with touch screen only and the games keep crashing or refusing to boot. Who wants to drop 10 bucks for a game that won't even start and no refund policy?

Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup runs really well on anything.
Wayward Souls/Mage Gauntlet: not much depth, but it's a quality game.
Exiled Kingdoms: pretty good game with lots of content, haven't played it for a year, it's probably even better now.
HoMM3 through ExaGear emulator ran really well, but emulator devs are huge fucking jews and it was a pain in the ass to get it working for free.

There are ports of Icewind Dale, Baulders Gate 1 and 2 and some other old RPG's. I got them for 99 cents each during a big sale. Add them to wishlist and wait for a sale or pay $10 otherwise.
Other people mentioned KOTOR. Square has a handful of FF games like Tactics and VI and VII.
Occidental Heroes is an ok game. You'll be done with it in about 10 hours though.
Dink is an old RPG. A little goofy but it plays well on android and it's free.

If I recall correctly, KoTOR and Planescape Torment are on Android. Not sure if you can pirate them, though.
Also, I use the John series of emulation. John GBA Lite and John GBC Lite. I wouldn't bother emulating anything other than the Gameboy or maybe an NES. Controls get a little fucky after that.

A game I found while searching myself was Last Day on Earth which seems to be neo-scavenger lite set in the USSR after a nuclear war. Seems OK after an hour of play, has you scavenging houses for cans of beef and boiling water to render it safe. There seems to be a mild base-building dynamic, but I don't know yet if you can actually produce your own food so it might not be useful.
DCSS was an excellent suggestion and I recommend if for anyone else wanting a mobile game with depth. It's literally the PC game with a resizable window and keyboard overlay. Obviously it's not as easy to control as with a physical keyboard, but it doesn't sacrifice anything for the handicapped controls either.

TBS seems like it would be well suited to mobile. Not needing to do anything with any particular haste is good for the obligatory crap controls and the fact that you can stop at any time with no consequences meshes well with having to pick up and put down the game. Are there any TW/CIV/GALCIV style TBS for android?

"Antiyoy" is pretty great. Free with no ads (and no spyware/malware as far as I can tell), strategic game on a hex grid. Gameplay is simple to pick up but with enough strategic depth for plenty of fun sessions.
>each hex you control gives you a gold per turn
>spend gold on soldiers, towers (stationary defense that's cheaper than a soldier of equivalent tier), or houses (increases gold yield of a hex)
>soldiers cost a certain amount of upkeep per turn, depending on their tier
>soldiers can only kill enemies of lower tier than themselves, except top tier which can kill anything including other top tiers
>strategy revolves around taking and holding territory, investing in houses to boost income and balancing defense vs conquest, taking advantage of choke points etc.
Some of the scenario missions are fucking hard, and there's a skirmish mode as well, with difficulty options.
4ef9ea No.15236259
>>15236215
That game is fucking brutal too. All of your units will die if they don't get their upkeep that turn and the upkeep is measured separately per territory you own. So if you can surround an enemy and cut them off from their main center of their economy, they're fucking dead. Likewise for you. Overextend too much and you'll get cut off and lose all your units.
59a4b8 No.15236369

>Overextend too much and you'll get cut off and lose all your units.
The AI can be very ruthless about catching and exploiting holes in your front line, too. It always feels just like making a blunder in chess when that happens.
I also like that your income can be negative as long as you have enough built up money to afford the deduction each turn. It enables some interesting opportunities like building up towards a blitz attack, or saving the money in case you lose territory and go negative while taking it back.
I would say the most difficult and fun scenario missions for me were the ones where the map is cramped and most hexes already have structures, so you are forced to heavily optimize your limited territory without the benefit of buffer zones between your houses and the front line. I have definitely passed many a bus ride playing Antiyoy.

Oh fuck, I thought you meant literal androids at first.
99% of them are 100% shit.
Off the top of my head only exclusive I can remember being okay was Cut The Rope.
There are some ports of good games like Maldita Castilla or OpenTyrian, but I can't really recommend playing any plaformers or shooters with a touch screen. I think Professor Layton and Katamari is on android. Come to think of it Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (of all things) as well. And of course emulators.
