You have to use third-party software for everything so not even the engine or some higher-level utilities are personal to you.
Your game is rushed about by a publisher/producer who just wants to make money so you have to incorporate soulless money-grabbing schemes like paid textures or shekel cards
You finish your work on one component and the agile-focused dev lead immediately transitions you to a separate component of a separate project to do this all over again.
You can't even enjoy the game when it is released because it just makes you think about work.
Oh… and all of this is to develop mobile games because nobody is hiring of game devs.

If you have decent int you can become a professional programmer and do mediocre shit for income, and spend your free time working on some passion project (video games) of your own until you gitgud enough at game design to make something marketable. After that you could try to monetize it, and once you make enough income from it you can quit your main job and dedicate your time to your own video games.
Its far fetched, but its better to have hopes and dreams, something to work towards than nothing. If you really give it your all you can do it eventually.

The truth is game dev is just SW development except the customer is yourself.
There may not be as large a focus on functional requirements, but ultimately you are just rapid prototyping until you make something you like and refine it.

There are some nice perks at most small studios, like where I worked, but the feature creep and months long Bataan Death March-tier crunch will happen no matter what because publishers refuse to push back the deadline unless they have no choice, because pushing back a deadline means increasing funding. Thanks to California's exemption for the software industry, you don't get a single extra cent for those literally hundreds of hours of overtime. When it was over, we all got laid off, my girlfriend broke up with me and I had a nervous breakdown. Luckily I had enough saved up that I was able to take a year off afterward. Which was nice, since while I was working I never even had a free moment to do anything fun to enjoy the salary I was making.
If you're thinking of getting into the games industry the way it currently exists, I'd advise you to reconsider. It is absolutely not worth it the way it currently operates.

Learn to cook. Research basic things and teach yourself knife skills. You don't need to go to culinary school to get a cooking job, even a professional one.
