It's a Chinese CRT called a Curtis. Absolutely garbage, but it doubles as radio. Has a single jack in the back for mono & composite video. Surprisingly enough I picked up a single analogue tv station on it, which I can only assume exists just for emergency reasons.

wouldn't be too bad. Just set it to output 480i in the wii menu and set the emulator to output "default" and it'll be proper 240p. NES is a hard system to get right as there's not really an RGB color palette for it. Component from a Wii would be very clean looking too.

either the aperture grille got warped which isn't a super easily fixable thing, or the purity is done or the degauss coil isn't doing what it's supposed to.
Get a nice meaty degaussing coil like one of these and give it a whirl. It may do the trick. If it's purity then you'll have to adjust the purity rings which is a bit beyond my skill set right now. I do know magnetic strips also can help with this.
From what I can tell it looks like it was cuddled up between some fairly nasty magnets for a long period.

A good CRT is a necessity if you want to play 6th gen and older vidya without it looking like dogshit, you'd be surprised at how beatiful PS2 games look with the ps3 sony component cables and progressive scan enabled on a trinitron, sure you could just emulate either on PC or other consoles but there's bound to be some graphical glitches or other fuckery you just don't get on the original hardware.

PS2 on a CRT is just gorgeous, 480i is palatable and for many games looks fantastic, benefiting the style like Okami. The big draw is 240p, and CRT being a better technology for 480p systems makes it really ideal for the Wii and original Xbox, which if you haven't gotten a chance to seen on a real 480p CRT you're missing out some downright impressive stuff.

Unless there's some way to hack the PS3 to run a custom emulator that displays in 240p, not that I'm aware of.
PS3: Emulates PS1 games at 480i (infinite memory cards) - Lowest comparability
PS2: Hardware emulated PS1 games at 240p with option to double disc speed. 98% actuate
PS1: 100% compatability (lasers die easy)
*There's a PS1 lash card coming out soon so you might want to just get a PS1.

Right. There's also a way to turn a game shark for the PS1 into a removable mod chip if you wanted to play burned PS1 discs. also slim PS2s up to the 7000 model can be easily modded to play burned PS1 discs (that's what I'm doing until the PSIO)
