I'm the anon you're replying to, ID changed
I have a hatred for that game, its utter indefensible garbage to me. I will be talking normal mode because I had no incentive or desire to do hard mode since there is literally no incentive to, unlike 7's.
>all aspects of its writing are terrible
This includes dialogues, story and plot-related writing, characters, etc. Nothing compelling about it whatsoever. I'll try to avoid giving spoilers.
>game is too easy
In terms of its normal mode the game is far too easy for the core of the gameplay, however it still manages to be incredibly frustrating because
>ambush reinforcements coupled with extreme weapon effectiveness
You'll get through a map no problem, but once you approach the boss ambush reinforcements will no doubt come out. The fact that they might have a bow, lancereaver, horseslayer or what have you means that if you have any unit nearby, its a restart which couples with the fact that there are no feasible ways to rush maps because
>boss dodge chance is too high
So basically you'll be going smoothly but when you try to hit the end of a map , you're basically bottlenecked. If you want end the maps quickly and easily, your best option is anima magic, or other magic but especially anima which is so broken and overpowered in that game that you can solo with a few users of it.
Its maps are average in design with a few interesting gimmicks here and there.
Other shit I don't like about it is that
>difficulty modes have no incentive to keep playing
The fact that you can't play hard mode from the start is annoying as fuck, but I'm guessing the frustrations had would only increase on hard mode. 7's had unique story elements and new dialogues and whatnot, as well as a true ending barred by the highest difficulty. 6's had literally nothing. Ironically its true ending is what is supposed to save it but the epilogue is such a powerful boner-killer that it soured me on the game forever, when I was ready to at least give it a 6/10 for at least almost making my time half-worth it in the end.
General annoying shit about it is also the terrible weapon triangle and lack of true hit, making RNG a lot more impactful in the game. I'd mind it less if the game were more fun but it wasn't.
Weapon animations also sucked and the music was meh. Some map design was really poor (namely indoor and desert), and all of the maps were exceptionally long, which, coupled with the aforementioned problems always led to cautious playing, which sucks for me since I love incorporating speed as a measure of tactics. It leads to the same tired tactics of using juggernauts and slowly moving your force through, maybe cautiously using mounted or flying units if they're good enough to disrupt, but overall moving as a group or 2 subgroups and doing the same thing over and over again, with characters you don't like for a map you don't care about to advance a story you hate
There's more I had that I'll dig up later, but fuck FE6, sucked shit
