Aidyn Chronicles is another somewhat ignored/forgotten gem of the N64. By gem, I mean quartz because it's honestly not that good but for some reason I fucking loved it and rented it from blockbuster near every week. I actually dabbled with this a little but didn't get very extensively into it because I also found out the game had a 3dsmax plugin too. It was on its website. But the company went out of business a few months after the game and the website was taken down. And archive.org didn't save it.
I messaged the lead dev on twitter if he had it but got no response. At this point it's basically lost. It's disappointing because I had a lot of ideas on things i could add to the game.

You played the game incorrectly. Revenant has a very sophisticated combat system with its three different attacks and its blocks. It's one thing Ross got incorrect in his video about the game.
The lack of click to move I felt really improved the game because you end up focusing far more on movement than you would in Diablo.
Also he never used magic and magic can potentially break the game. His need to cheat is unnecessary since if you use magic to buff yourself it makes the game much easier.

The problem with a lot of RPGs is you never know what to level until your second playthrough, because you never know what scales how and what shit is useless. there's really good old guides on GameFAQ from the early 2000s that tell you which skills to level and which to avoid. Diplomacy is worthless. MM6 is a fun game. lots of hidden secrets and stuff to explore. MM7 is probably the best out of 6-8 though. MM9 is an abomination and should be avoided

I got stuck at the orc camp and got told off because I wasn't a high enough level. After spending roughly and hour grinding low level creeps around the map I got bored and uninstalled. It's way too linear with not enough dungeons to crawl and the map is too empty for it's own good. You don't have to micro manage characters and stuff, if you choose, your party fights automatically.
On higher difficulties I found myself pausing before or during a fight and just assessing the carnage happening on screen, sometimes you'll have a character wander too far chasing something down and pull more mobs. But other than that it's not as technical as other games of its genre.
It's still a lot of fun and I recommend it though.

Dungeon Siege 2 was fun. But I prefer the first one just because of the way the game is designed so enemies don't respawn. You're constantly moving forward, no teleports, the game feels like a journey.
Alas, I played it a few years back on a more modern computer and had problems with the inventory. It's one of those games where older computers manage to run it better. The inventory was tiny because it doesn't scale to resolution. 4K screens would probably make it even worse.
Turning shadows off seemed to fix it. If you can try and pick it up from somewhere other than Steam, steam has apparently botched it up so that the game just crashes at the final boss, also there's no ability to install mods (it was highly modable in its time… But as if any mod sites for DS1 still exists)

Freespace 2 is the last great space sim. Its source code was released several years ago and the community at Hard Light Productions has done a lot to improve it over the years. There are also a lot of user-made campaigns available.
Neverwinter Nights 1 is a good D&D RPG, and it came with a toolset that was very easy to use, which resulted in a lot of good custom modules. I just wish it allowed you to directly control your party members instead of only controlling your main character.

Ok, if you want to see how the series progressed, start with 1, i personally prefer the dual shock version, but some people prefer some other versions including the DS port wich are all pretty faithfull and each add a neat little thing or two to justify their existence.
Avoid the director's cut because it worsens some things and also ruins the mood with the "new and improved soundtrack" that gave birth to the infamous farting clowns basement.
2's canonical run would be claire A leon B.
3 doesnt have an scenario system, but the game presents you with multiple choices through the game that varies the endigns, paths you take towards the end and other little things, the game also spawns items differently each run (within reason), so each run is a little bit different.
You can also try to play the remake of 1 first, the game pretty much renders the original obsolete, but if you do so 2 will feel liek a downgrade instead of the massive improvement it was, it doesnt have some of the cool controls 3 had though, since that game was handled by another team so its pretty much isolated but still really good.
Then you can also add 0 and code veronica if you really like the games and want to see mor of the story and characters and also fill out the plot.

This. Starting with later games in a series and then trying to go back to the beginning afterwards can cause problems. It could spoil some of the story for you, or make it harder to understand the story of the sequel because it relies on references to the previous games. Later games will most likely have gameplay and UI improvements that you'll really miss in the older games if you've gotten used to having them. It's safest to just start from the beginning.
