You don't even need to pay for one these days. You can just check your local electronics recycling place. There's a pretty good chance they'll have CRTS, considering boomers are still moving to Florida and are being forced to get rid of all the shit they've been hoarding.

I actually have an old HD 32’ Wega but even using my PS2 on that it looks really rough. Unless the PSX or PS1 looks better than whatever the ps2 is doing.

From the quick menu:

shaders -> load shader preset -> shaders_cg -> ntsc -> ntsc-320px-gauss-scanline

I don't remember if psx was supposed to have ntsc artifacts or what, but you can also try:

shaders_cg -> crt

and just pick random crt shaders until you find one you like.

To try the integer scaling thing, first disable your internal resolution mods, then go to "video" and enable integer scaling and disable bilinear filtering.

No. We don't have the resolution, black levels, response times or color accuracy to mimic CRT displays. Likely won't get close until 8k microLED monitors are a thing.

Factor 5 games have all sorts of technical wizardry that make them near impossible to emulate. That goes doubly for their gamecube games like Rebel Strike.

Unpopular opinion time:

Use CRT Royale shaders with mednafen or something. They actually look pretty good and give you shit like phosphor glow and proper dithering/transparency effects.

It's how I emulate all ps1 games nowadays, if I don't have a physical copy to play on my CRT of course.

Op, just emulate the deadly silence version (a ninteneo ds port), its the same as the original with the inclusion of a remixee version with new mechanics and puzzles that use the toughscreen.

Actually I got the PC version running fine. Plus some guy just started development on another patch that will be even better. He's actually updating it pretty regularly. If he implements everything he plans to it definitely will become the best way to play it.

I really am surprised that there has not been any kind of crowdfunding to start manufacturing new CRTs specifically built for old video games. There is absolutely a demand for it and people would definitely be willing to pay 200-400$ for a solid brand new CRT that makes their old games look fantastic. The only issue I could see is shipping them all over would be insanely pricey.

It's probably so much more profitable to sell LCDs than CRTs that no company wants to go back to selling CRTs. You can ship much more LCDs for cheaper, and they are very prone to damage which makes them even more money as people buy new ones. LCD technology also improves very slowly through slight upgrades; slightly faster framerates, slightly larger resolution, slightly less input lag, freesync, g-sync, they always come up with a new reason you need to buy a new one. Meanwhile if you have a CRT, you're set for life. I wouldn't be surprised if corporations tried to actively prevent the resurgence of CRT.

I've been trying out netroarch for android, it's okay, my phone's storage isn't too good, so im limited to titles under 1mb, but it's a fine experience. Biggest gripe is that you have to delete all app data if you want to delete the cores youve downloaded.

Oddly enough for some reason I can only find z64 files for the game and retroarch doesn't seem to be able to open it up. Still not using P64, it has redshell IIRC.

Anybody managed to emulate Ace Combat 4 in hardware mode? The hangar seems to be completely glitched and the UI also has shit smeared all over it. Also, can you play it with jap VA and english subs? Didn't seem to find an .iso that allowed it.

Just do what I did, go to a rom site that displays the coverarts of the games and grab what seems interesting. Makes it more interesting since you wouldn't have a bias when you're playing it.

iirc, the computer versions aren't always even the same game. I remember playing Sorcerer's Stone on PC and it is a very different game from the PS1 version, for example, and not just in terms of graphics. Check the share thread and read through the links in the OP, specifically the links on gitgud.io, you should be able to find some downloads there.
