Why do PC games never give us a choice of icons? There are a lot of games with mods dedicated to to changing the icons to DS3/4, and in games like dark souls modding this convenience in can lead to a ban.

And when games do have the option, why do they feel the need to detect the controller and then assign the appropriate icons instead of just a simple config that we can control?

You are correct but you are a faggot for making such a shitty OP and thread.

Lets have a thread listing and appreciating games that do that correctly, instead.

Danganronpa's spin off title allows you to freely change it by choice. But V3, that came after it, autodetects it for some reason and you can't change it manually no matter what.

Autodetecting it is better than just having the "default" Xbox buttons show up no matter what you're using, but it's a pain when you're using software like DS4Windows or just temporarily using someone else's controller when playing a game.

5-7 had RGB options you could alter and all sorts of little border patterns like in Pokemon. Ever since then it's either nothing or maybe a choice of less than a dozen different presets which is still nice I guess.
