2 is an Xbox exclusive, 3 is impossible to play on PC without sailing the seas and getting a GFWL fix.
Fable 1 was quirky and fun and I've heard 2, while a little "meh" in most places, does carry over the humor and story well.
I'm playing 3 now and it is hot garbage. Some games hold your hand, this one is a tutorial that slaps the cuffs on you as it drags you through the game.
There's an option to turn off the glowing pathway leading you to your objective, but then you have almost no idea of where to go since the featureless map is for fast traveling, you don't have a minimap, and you're not given proper directions.
There aren't any health bars - you see your screen flashing red and then you're allowed to use health potions. You hit a boss for X minutes and suddenly they fall over dead.
Skills no longer exist - damage boosts, spellswhich don't cost mana anymore, and extra features are locked behind story progression and cost "Guild Seals" which is essentially the hit multiplier from 1 but everything you do turns into a currency.
Oh, yeah, slow time is no longer a spell, either; it's a potion. So have fun hitting quicksave while you're trying to hit F4 to slow time.
also this game does confirm that a voiced protagonist signals the death of a series
