What games are based on searching for correct information, and making your decisions based on them? Hacking games are an obvious choice, I remember one freeware game that gets recommended here a lot making you search for passwords in files and so on and so forth. Hacknet might do that as well but I don't remember playing it.

Papers please has an entire game based around reviewing information and checking for errors in passports.

Orwell by extension, but it's a story based game and seems to be a Telltale-styled "YOUR CHOICES REALLY MATTER BUT THEY DON'T IN THE END" bullshit and the appearance of a blue haired dyke makes me think that there might be some SJW influences although I cannot confirm.

It was gifted to me, I didn't pay for this shit so what's the problem with checking it out? Besides, just as a broken clock can be right twice a day, even a shitty ideologically driven designer can create something good twice a century although Orwell is not an example of that

Even if the game is made by a leftist, it does not give a good outlook on Communism. The main character barely makes enough to feed his family and everyone is a shifty fuck. When you end up shooting someone the game doesn't take it lightly and makes note that your superiors want more, and to be more strict.

By that logic, any point and click game would do, although the courtroom scenes are slightly closer to what I'm looking for.

Except everyone in reality knows it's not. The game is faux-russian, and implies heavily that you're working in a fantasy communist society.

I'm not saying the game is a fantastic piece of art, or even an exceptional rebuke of communism. However it's interesting at the least that a leftist would make something like that even if he framed it in a "fascist" theme. Maybe he did that just to grab the attention of actual lefties.

The game clearly references the borders of USSR block before the fall of the Berlin wall.

I think the message he wants to send is more: BORDERS SUCK, NOW OPEN YOuR COUNTRY TO THE HORDES.

And on a side subversion is a good thing and you do it if you are a good guy (goy).

>borders suck

I never finished the game so it's possible that's the theme later on, but I never got that feel from it. It always seemed more like everyone you talk to is probably guilty in some way that you're missing, even if everything checks out. When you do finally catch one it feels good, but then you remember that there's a whole line of these fuckers. I do see the subversion though, and the game does give a feel of "all for the good of the state, comrade" as well.

a lot of them are not logically engineered at all, though. some of the best I've found were the Sierra Quest games (Police, Space, King's). there are quite a few that are just plain illogically planned; The Longest Journey comes to mind.

Don't respond to political shitposters, all it will do is ruin your threads.

Sort of on-topic, the story of one of the characters in octopath traveler (the scholar) is based around mysteries you solve by gathering info from townspeople. His ability in general also uncovers bonuses and whatnot.

Just realized that Terminator 2 is all about searching for information.

Flower Sun and Rain is a really good one. It's a sequel to VN on the PSOne though, and the last chapter of the game doesn't make much sense plot-wise without it. But I think the rest of the game is still largely enjoyable without playing the first game. The PS2 version of FSR was never translated, but there is an English language port on the DS that you can get a ROM for. Hilariously enough, the DS graphics are not much of a downgrade.

All the puzzles in the game are based in information in a guidebook, which is an in-game object but for a while you could actually buy physically versions of the guidebook.
