That picture in the OP really stands out to me as looking nothing like a real place at night. I'm bad at editing but this is close to how I feel it really looks.
The incandescent bulbs drown everything out in an orange/yellow haze, the lights have a noticeable glow around them, everything that isn't directly lit is much darker, anything that's even slightly wet reflects light like foil.
Maybe this is how big cities look at night, I wouldn't know, but it bothers me how bright everything is there. It's like a room with all the curtains closed.

I liked GTA5's first person driving, it was the only part I liked, except that the steering reset after a couple seconds, so if I was slowly banking on the highway in a motorbike it'd reset every few seconds, which was stupid.

gta 5 first person driving is really boring compared to the third person driving view. It is the screen shaking that makes the third person view more interesting. The first person view doesn't have that at all, just static boringness with no speedy feelings whatsoever. They should have added the screen shaking behaviour from the Drag Races in NFSU1 to either the 3rd or 1st person view because this is the only game where the speed really feels like speed

The real problem with the driving in GTA V is that every single car feels really sporty including cars that shouldn't be like the big vans or the ancient land barge Cadillacs you find in Blaine County. It would be comfier if the shitboxes actually did drive like shitboxes so most of us could actually have something to connect the driving to our experiences. Its salvageable though if you find a nice quiet part of the country side to drive around at night in one of the rusty beaters on a good radio station. The soundtrack isn't as comfy as Vice City though, but that's a hard thing to top in that regard
