These hi-res texture folks miss the point of the first 3D Zeldors entirely - they weren't supposed to be cartoony and bright. They were supposed to be about as serious visually as the hardware could support. I'd hate to see the rest of beneath the clocktower looking at how the gear-door was handled. It's supposed to look like it's been buried by time and dust for a hundred years, not have sharp fresh-cut edges. They used low texture resolution as a tool when they could, and that required finesse and captial-D Design sense that double-digit IQ texture makers never EVER grasp. Restraint NEVER plays a part - it's always maximum enhancement, never gentle touch-up. Always highest resolution - not "This object is obscured with shadow and should probably look a little fuzzy."
Fuck every single custom texture ever.
Except for the one that made Mario 64 wooly like Epic Yarn and Yoshi's Wooly World, though I haven't tried it

Citra is actually a piece of shit. Always moving my hand from the controller to the mouse to the touchscreen things just isn't fun and I can't believe they couldn't find a way to hotkey this stuff in all the years.
I just downloaded JoytoKey to do it myself and it works perfectly fine but now my problem is that for some reason the program isn't compatible with Citra. Literally with EVERY other program but not with citra. Nothing happens.

Nah, OoT was completely ahead of its time. Compare it with games that actually came out in the same release window or even somewhat later. Hell, even King's Field on PS2 doesn't do half the things and has significantly worse gameplay and level design. Not to mention that there are things that make OoT special even today, like how music is implemented in the game and how it serves as a gameplay as well as a story catalyst. Or the 10/10 OST. And if it hadn't been spoiled, easily one if not the biggest twist in video games. And on top of everything it spawns another amazing game with 10/10, which just reuses all its assets.
