><But the meter goes down in 3 seconds and you're forced to go back into cover while waiting for the cooldown
It's called meter management and taking short breaks of recovery inbetween bouts of action, overheating is your punishment for abusing energy too much with melee actions being your desperation breakout moves
><Which is just a different coat of paint for sprinting
Except you can actually fire and throw grenades while sliding
><Which is fucking easymode garbage that makes everything slower because you can't keep up with enemies at normal speed
It's so based around it that they give you 50% less of it on God Hard
People have been pulling off impressive shit with Vanquish when it was only playable with a controller at 30fps, you are only making yourself look more casual. It's largely there to let you shoot more accurately when performing high-speed maneuvers or when you're doing shit like hitting grenades mid-air to make them explode. But at no point are you forced to use slo-mo (unless you are at critical health), aside from the final boss who starts moving around impossibly fast (which is when they give you 200% energy anyways)
>>regenerating health
Perfectly suitable for keeping things fast, moreover your health is essentially tied to your energy, get hit too much and you enter recovery mode automatically as a means of reversal or to retreat, get hit too much while you're overheating and you're boned
>>3 weapon limit
Would be cool to have all at once
>>QTE's everywhere
The rest of the game is challenging enough and the QTEs themselves are cool enough to make up for it
>>Levels filled to the brim with chest-high walls to crouch behind, but oh the game surely isn't supposed to be played like that
The game literally penalizes your score depending on how much time you spend behind cover
>>Slow-ass basic movement speed
To make sliding more useful in comparison, also learn to roll
>>You can't even jump
As cool as that would be, in Vanquish' case having jumping and sliding at the same time would shake up the core gameplay so much that it would necessitate different enemies and level design entirely. A jump on its own is kind of pointless, though the melee attack on the HMG lets you do a backflip in the air to let you shoot from above which kind of covers the function of a jump
>>Hipfire is deliberately made inaccurate so that you can't run and gun and you have to go into aiming down sights mode
Depends per weapon, the starting Assault Rifle is highly accurate even outside ADS
>>You can't even strafe unless you go into the aiming down sights mode where your movement speed is reduced to a crawl and you can't see shit because the FOV is zoomed in
This is blatantly false, you can freely strafe or slide while shooting outside of ADS
>>This is supposed to be a fast-paced shooter, yet you effectively stand still while shooting.
Only if you're a scrub. Just look up any challenge mode video from a Japanese player and see how much cover they use
