So what are your guys' thoughts on the Spyro Reignited Trilogy? Didn't see a thread about it so I figured I'd start one. I think it was a bit rough with the initial footage, but they're clearly listening to fans and changing shit to be more faithful/less retarded, webm related. Copeland is back, music can now be switched between the original and remastered version, dynamic music can be turned off, Nestor looks way better now, etc. Now it's a matter of dealing with the censorship, fucking paint guns.
5334ab No.15183010
Paint guns completely killed it for me.
The entire point was colorful saturday cartoon villians resorting to more desperate means, and actually getting serious about killing spyro.
It really made the final world feel like it had more importance

Hopeful it'll be better than the crash remaster.

I just don't get why they could have pinstripe and his tommy gun in the N Sane trilogy but no guns in spyro, hell rate it E-10 if you have to, I want this shit to be authentic and faithful
125e73 No.15183071
They ruined the look of the Dragons. Spyro walks around with a gay little prance. Total irreverence for the excellent color theory employed by the original.

Crash remakes were a different studio, thus different internal politics most likely.

To be fair, I believe it has more to do with the how msm is portraying guns at the moment. Trilogy came out before MSM started hitting the 2nd Amendment hard with propaganda.

Like how there's an option to toggle the soundtrack between the original and the remastered version. Also I like the design they got for Ripto.

Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction did a great job of looking like a Pixar movie. Of course Pixar was actually good back then too. Overwatch and whatever is more like Nu-Disney Studios, Tangled and whatever. Not that there's much of a difference anymore.

it's still compressed. There's only been one song that's ever had its unaltered master released and that's Jacques because it was featured on a best of.

The quality is fairly good but it's still 37.8khz 200-300kbps compressed audio

The frequency isn't really compression, it's just a less bandwidth, but it's comparable to a radio broadcast I believe. As for bitrate, that sounds like whatever you are compressing to when you rip isn't it? I can rip them to WAV then convert to FLAC.

Nah, CDXA is what the game have the tracks as on the disc itself, the games don't use regular full quality audio, wouldn't be able to fit over two hours of music on one disc otherwise
>The frequency isn't really compression, it's just a less bandwidth
Does still have a notceable effect on audio quality

As others have said, there's a difference between the original composition and what the system could actually handle. Crash Bandicoot: Warped for example had a number of "preconsole" versions of tracks which have found their way into the public (and I believe it was through Mancell himself, but I could be wrong). The game itself does not have the same exact tracks, both in terms of audio output quality and amount of instruments. Granted, there's certainly systems where the audio capabilities were tin-ier than the PS1 (Copeland did have a good point that CD provided a lot more space for him to work with than a cartridge would when it came to Spyro), but still.
b89379 No.15184464
>>15184445
Crash 2 had some of its best tracks shared. Rock it/Pack Attack pre-console has this bass line that's totally muted in the final version, a glockenspiel that you don't even hear in the opening, it's a world of difference.
