Mabinogi is a very unique MMO that isn't just another WoW clone. There are no classes, just a bunch of different skill types and you can invest in any of them as you like. This game places a large emphasis on non-combat skills, and has many activities to do besides fighting enemies.
IF YOU DECIED TO PLAY
Be sure to make a human for your first character, even if you don't want to play a human. Humans can travel to the leader of Giants and the leader of Elves to obtain character slots of each, but Giants and Elves can't do this. These extra characters are at least good for extra bank space, and can be used as mules. If you messed up by making a Giant or Elf first, the server's admins should allow up to 3 seperate accounts, in case you wanted to play a different race.

I'm not sure if it's still going on, but there was some custom version of Math dungeon and a cube you need to feed to reach it.
They keep adding new fashion items, which you can tell because they haven't been fully translated, and they look "up to date" instead of the blocky looking clothes the game launched with.
Rates are x2 for everything, and part time job rewards are x4.
Aside from that, everything is from G12 from March 2011.

As far as i know it's gotta be a wolf that scares sheep away. Ideally you play AS the wolf, scare it behind a fence, and change channels so it's pathfinding breaks; rather than walking around objects if you chase it too far it'll just try to walk through the fence and be stuck. Alternatively, you can summon the wolf, have it sit, and shear the sheep that'll just run away a set distance and stand there as a defensive measure.

Yes, exactly, sheep have a "home" around their spawnpoint that they wander around, when you coerce them outside of it, they'll walk back to their home when aggro is dropped. If they are pushed too far they will forcibly drop aggro and intelligently path back to their home.

I see now that my issue with teaching monster statuses or AI right off the bat is that it's quite a few steps ahead of the curriculum. Some basics should be taught first imo. You might think it's handhold-y but for a system as tuned as Mabi's and the lack of translations, I'd say it's justified. Make sure a player at least has an idea of fundamentals and build from there.
Targeting and grabbing items > Weapon Speed pt. 1 (not n+1) > Skills > Skill Hotkeys (fkeys) > Skill Hotkeys (numbers) > Basic Combinations > Weapon Speed pt. 2 (n+1) > Pets in Combat
Those lessons are about familiarizing the player's toolkit. Once they actually know what their skills do, then they are ready to broaden their scopes to enemies.
Aggro States > Stun, Knockback & Knockdowns > Standers > Multi-Aggro > Common Enemy types > Intermediate Combinations
That should be enough info for most players. If they would like to go beyond that, someone qualified could give PVP lessons and being a cheap metafag. Mods optional. Those things I listed are in no way comprehensive. It's just tidbits I've gathered from playing, reading a couple guides and dying hundreds of times. Here's a tip for multi aggro mobs make your pet sit right before the door to the room, open the chest and play dead. Half the mobs will aggro your pet, which they can't get to, so they'll just hug the door. Like this you can deal with half the room in peace while the other half is being angry at your pet. This. Can't you make mock mounts (backpack, cart, wagon, elephant) and spawn them at specific NPCs when you buy their goods? Just recolor the red fomorian coins to yellow and call them ducats. Have the same NPCs trade only in ducats, despawn the mount when you sell the goods, and you already have the basic foundation of merchanting.
Another question, how feasible is it to make new models from the ground up and importing them into the game? Terrain models, buildings, NPCs, the whole gamut?

I believe we can only make 2D Shapes at this moment, and such 2D Shapes can be elevated to give out a representation of 3D, but that would be it as far as creating them from scratch. NPCs are a different field. See the issue is the scripting language gets updated every Generation from devcat.

Well you could make it not worth it.
Say you need to buy 5 books, of my brand, which cost all together 50k – the reward you'd get is 60k therefore you always make at least 10k profit. Not enough to break the economy and using wings will not earn you anything.
But I already see problems in my own solution, so yeah you're right. You'd have to be really creative. I'll write a book about a bunch of solutions though, "Solutions for Commerce."

The minimum for Great Successes is 2 ranks above your current. The game forces you to make specific items over and over which only gets worse as you get higher. Brionac despises being used on Blacksmithing and will punish you for doing so. A very intense profession should you pursue it.

I'd suggest either banking or tossing the books and the fleta chest, banking the hamlet book, turning in the fomor scrolls, eating the bread and instead buying a stack or two of whatever your preferred foodstuff is, and buying a guardian spider if you don't have one yet and aren't hankering for mounts. As for players there are around 14 active smugs on at peak hours so theres always some fags you can hang out with. People usually hang out at the main town (Dunby) where trading is done but the other places seem like ghost towns mostly. If you're traveling with other smugs you wont get lonely.

Learn potion making and herbalism for int and MP pots, harass people for thunder pages since they're easier to get than ice spear or fireball, maybe get one or both herb pets after you get a broom and throughbred, hunt for MP reduction gear.

I would advise getting the clover gnu since in the long run, having more mandrakes will be more helpful than having more antidote herbs in terms of ranking up potion making. It's also more useful in general since you can make movement speed potions with mandrakes and shamanic herbs.

Biggest problem with rapiers is the repair cost. But, it can get stupid powerful for wandless casting and using magic with it doesn't remove durability either because it's a melee weapon, really great for making firebolt delete rooms.
You'll be needing a lot of mana pots when using one if you tech it into chaincasting, just like with fire wands.

Wands already have a 15% damage boost to whatever element, so that +magic attack doesn't actually do much. Their melee stats suck. If it could have at least 50+ max while keeping the chaincast it could be an okay hybrid weapon with medium/low crit.
cc+1 also sucks because 4 firebolts is still only 4x damage where as 5 is 6.5x, so you still have to cast 3 times. In the end you have a weapon that tries to be melee, and tries to be a wand, sucks at both and loses out on all the wand bonuses. It's sorta okay for icebolt spam though where spamming bolts nonstop is an easy way to RIP a wand.

This increases the damage of all bolts. It never really needs repair, since you don't want to melee with it out. No mana evap so you can switch if you really want to melee. Its great for mid level content where you can just 1-2 charge LB to kill things. Which, when you have 500+ int is a lot of content.

Literally who alternates bolts? Even rapiers are specialized for one type of bolt. I have 2 rapiers, one ice and one fire, and they do nothing but gather dust in my inventory. I regret specializing one of them for fire every day of my life because it's absolutely useless. For low level dungeons literally anything works but for clearing as fast as possible i'd rather just use a cc4 lightning wand or save myself the mp and just windmill.
