So I've been been playing this recently and I have to say that in all honesty I prefer the originals. Don't get me wrong, I like the resolution updates, I appreciate the fact that they maintained the difficulty, made little design changes, and added some fun DLC shit. Maybe it's because I pirated and I don't have buyer's remorse to fall back on, but there are just little things in this that I can't explain not enjoying. The animations are a strong point, I would argue. However:

>color palette seems just ever so slightly off. not in a bad way, things just seem both bright and somehow bland

>uncanny valley on some of the characters for sure. tiny is especially weird to look at

>this kind of takes the bite out of some of the boss fights and some levels. especially in warped

>i dont like the new crash model. there was nothing wrong with the cute but stupefied expression the old one had, I feel like the new one is somehow dumber, more childish/retarded looking

Yeah. I was happy to see they adjusted the visuals for Stone Hill. Also delighted to see this. I don't think Spyro is as precise as Crash, but provided that criticism actually got through to them (my biggest concern), maybe this one will end up better.

Just finished 1 and 3 the last day and those games are pure fucking garbage. Unless the originals are much better, I have no idea why I liked this shit so much as a child.

Those games are pure turds. Shit gameplay, shit level design, literally fucked up hitboxes and platforming (which is kind of the crucial point of the game), even shitty hubworlds that make no sense. And absolutely horrendous bosses.

Makes sense to me the developer makes shitty movie games now and gave up on gameplay.

i recommend playing the originals. the hitboxes are better, they run a little better, in a weird way. the levels won't change but it won't feel so sloggy to run through them, trust me.

I agree that everything is just very slightly off, and I prefer the originals in every area due to this. However, the added Relics in 1 and 2 and playable Coco more than make up for it. Yes, they're very minor additions, but the ways the game is inferior are also very minor. These were always my favorite games since they first came out, so having new challenges with the Relics was a lot of fun for me. It especially made me appreciate the level design in Crash 1, which is way more intricate than I noticed before trying to get the Platinum Relics. When it came out a year ago I got so into it for several days that I gave myself tennis elbow in my left arm and had to go to the doctor. But after a couple days I was better and managed to get the rest of the relics.

I still can only get Gold on Stormy Ascent. Only thing I can't get Platinum on.

The hitboxes are practically unnoticeable unless you're trying to cheat by running on the ropes of the bridge levels in Crash 1. I do think the jumps are also slightly shorter or something though, like getting the secret level entrance in Air Crash was a bit harder. But again, barely noticeable through the majority of the game. It's not perfect, but it's close. Same as the colors and music. I think the vehicle controls in 3 are much more worth complaining about, they're way more different than the platforming controls. But people never talk about it because again it's still pretty close. I'd like the originals better due to these things but the Relics add a lot of fun.

Cortex and N. Brio had two devices they were using to make their mutant army. The first was the Evolvo Ray, created by Brio to turn animals into mutants. The second was the Cortex Vortex, to make them intelligent and brainwash them to work for Cortex. The Cortex Vortex rejected Crash and didn't work on him, so he is apparently no more intelligent than a normal bandicoot. Also of note is Ripper Roo, apparently the first subject of the Cortex Vortex (and the first boss who actually works for Cortex), who it mostly worked on but made him crazy. However he is still super intelligent, and once he gets some help he becomes a professor.

I didn't play the originals that much so I can't really compare. I'm liking the trilogy, but there's issues for sure. I knew these games weren't perfect so I wasn't expecting perfect. Finished 2 and 3, and trying to beat The High Road in Crash 1 now.
