Resonance of Fate might fit that. The story was nonsensical. I don't think you get any plot elaboration on it all until it comes together from the chapters until like you're at the very end of the game. Gameplay was enjoyable but was complex at the start because it didn't tell you how to do it until you went to this tutorial area off to the side and you could get attacked on your way there before you get to do it. I know because it happened to me. Near the end, you kind of start using the same guns and tactics. I 100% the shit out of the game, unlocking all the hex puzzled areas and descending down that final level. The story I don't remember much about because it was nonsensical side adventures in each chapter that didn't have an overarching theme, until at the end which I mentioned earlier.

Divinity OS is the best example I can think of, its writing has all of the shitty tropes you could possibly stuff into a generic fantasy RPG yet its enjoyable anyways:

>main antagonists are cultists trying to summon the dragon
>seemingly unremarkable heroes are actually powerful beings who lost their memory
>generic elves/dwarves/humans and everything else
Yet the humor is pretty good and they put a lot of effort into making the ridiculous characters feel unique, on top of that it has one of the best RPG combat systems only surpassed by the sequel. I wish they went for a story with more creativity to it though, they clearly have some talent and settling for generic lazy fantasy seems like a waste.

Honestly the plot in EYE is so suitable for the video game genre it's insane. It perfectly explains why so much insane shit can happen without seeming up its own ass or take you out of the gameplay. It's also completely unnecessary to know any of it in order to enjoy yourself while not feeling necessary enough to ever feel left out for not knowing it. I've always enjoyed Alan Wake, but something about the plot makes me think it's really a mockery of the character Alan. The Game playsa as a HBO mini series of a book and even has some commercializations in it to help state the fact what a sell out Alan is (in the sense that he produced his tv show (the game you're playing) and sold out to verizon and other deals to get the production going) there's even a great part when you're running for your life from a shadow monster in a mountain lodge and you enter a room where you can watch tv (part of the hidden #'d secrets) usually its a small animation or a parody tv show, but for this one high intenticty scene it was a commercial for Verizon wireless. The metaness of the game always makes me laugh.

It's a real shame no other racing game has even tried to have a story, it's either a GranAutismo tier simulator with no plot whatsoever, racing for the hell of it, because you're competing with friends or because there's a festival/event in town and you absolutely need to be number 1.
And yes this game does have a story, it even extends to Carbon (a prequel/sequel to most wanted), Underground 1 (after carbon your protagonist skips town and tries to lay low for a while, but gets roped into underground racing), Underground 2 (your protagonist wins the tournament in 1 and leaves with a legendary japanese tuner car, but it gets totalled by a nigger in a hummer in the next town over because he thought you were going to challenge him), Pro Street (after fleeing from said town he realizes that holy fuck, he's really good at this driving shit so maybe he should try to make a career out of it instead of earning cash from winning illegal races like a dumb nigger, luckily there's a town nearby hosting an event where people can sign up and challenge professional racing car drivers, if he wins he'll surely get the attention of a few sponsors) and Shift 1 (u made it son).

I actually hate what I've played of the sequels story more since it doesn't really fit with the rest of the series not that they don't retcon a ton of stuff between each game, though. Fucking Source, first it was solely a healing magic that came from a fountain, now it is that bullshit. That doesn't mean D:OS had a good story, though.The enhanced edition of D:OS also showed that the writers were annoying fucks that didn't understand why D:OS's story was not just bland, but bad. In the original, the weaver of fates is doing her job until you interrupt her, and she realizes that she is cannot see the player characters in the weave. In the enhanced, she is just sitting on her ass when you arrive and calmly explains everything to you. The original was a good moment. The problem is that it came out of fucking nowhere way too early. That is a moment that should be in the lead up to the climax of the game.

Not on revengeance mode, and it's solely because it doesn't have a dedicated easy modo dodge button, the block "button" needs to be mastered if you want S-ranks, otherwise you'll be parrying when you want to block and blocking when you want to parry, the sidesweeps also are both a combat move and a dodge and it racks up the points like crazy if you pull them off right, even more than taunting.
The stupidity in this title is also easier to swallow than bayo's, why the fuck kamiya thinks his 9 feet tall alien wife whose body is 80% legs is sexy is beyond me, every boss having his theme is also a plus, too bad it's short as shit, i beat it the same afternoon i bought it.
