A few years later Dororo saw a live action movie, so I suppose it did well enough to prove continuing interest at the time, at least in Japan (it flopped hard in the west to my knowledge).

The driving and exploration were the meat and potatoes, I'd also say that a lot of the missions were pretty fun too. But I think it's biggest appeal is that you can tell the game was made by true fans of the Siimpsons from its golden days. The gags, the subtlety of the jokes and references in some places, etc.
The only thing I'd say isn't very good is the writing. They managed to get almost all of the actual Simpsons VA's but the writing was trash and most of the jokes they tried to have characters deliver fell flat.

The driving and exploration, something Road Rage was lacking in seeing as you couldn't exit your vehicle. Just like the original crazy taxi, that kind of point-a to point-b style gameplay gets old. my advice is play the first one, it honestly has a lot of heart, and you can tell there was some effort to write it like an episode of a nick show while also giving kids that selling hype of being an icon crossover, I think it was also coming off of battle for bikini bottom, which might explain the decent quality
the second one pulls out more characters and even goes as far back as giving you Stimpy as a secret playable, but never felt like quite as much of a cohesive experience
I never touched the third one, the nick games were starting to lose their charm around then and even the spongebob ones were getting tiring at that point

Once again, due to ballooning development costs due to how much is expected to be crammed into a video game. I remember seeing a behind the scenes developer videos for the game tie-in of "The Wolverine" The one from a few years back when he goes to Japan. The fuckers talking about it sounded actually excited to be making the game. They were talking about how hard they were trying to make sure Wolverine was sufficiently brutal in his killing, while keeping the mandated "Teen" rating by the licensers.
There's no one alive making a video game that doesn't want to be working on video games, even if it's a shitty cash grab. It's still a baby they get to create and mold. But there's absolutely no way to sell a game on the market if it doesn't look fantastic graphically. Triple A games take around 5 fucking years to make, and that's the bar that's set for people's perceptions of what a "good" game looks like. Licensed games are given maybe 2 years. And at that point, it's not about delivering a good product to market, it's about having a product that can be show to the investors and say, "See, it looks nice, doesn't it? You didn't waste your money!"

Jackie Chan Adventures had such a good premise and was so well executed that I'm upset it has Jackie Chan in it, because that ensures that the series will never get things like revivals or comic sequels or anything. The concepts of the Talismans and Shendu and The Black Hand and really everything else is really an excellent idea for an adventure series regardless of Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan makes great movies in real life, but you could swap his name out and the series would still be good. It's not like it relies on actual Jackie Chan stuff anyway, since he doesn't have gimmicks except for being good at stunts and pretty funny.
If I ever got a job at a comic book company, I would try to get the license to the franchise. Now I know getting the license for Jackie Chan himself would be much more difficult, but make Jade the main character and say her uncle disappeared. But not Uncle Uncle, he's still around, and you joke about how confusing it is since Jackie could never be referenced by name.
Or just ripoff the bad guys wholesale because they were the best parts.

The show is basically Indiana Jones but with superpowers. So a game would have to be Tomb Raider but instead of guns you use acrobatic martial arts and gain a talisman power at the end of each level. Jackie Chan's typical style of fighting and stunts naturally make for good video games, and would fit well enough into a Tomb Raider type thing. The Talisman powers are obvious. Super Speed, Super Strength, all that.

H&R story is kinda a mess thinking back to it. Kang and Kodos are making people violent and/or stupid via Buzz Cola for more ratings on their galactic reality show about earth. First level is kinda just a regular episode of homer doing stupid shit, Second is the same, but with Bart, and the third with Lisa are when things start picking up regarding the main plot.
Meanwhile RR had Mr. Burns introducing Nuclear Buses that unsafe as shit, so most of the cast start private Taxi Services (which now thinking about it, did it fucking predict UBER?). It's been a bit, but the Missions were very unrelated to that story except for the last one.
I think the quality of the story comes from RR being more Show don't tell (and probably benefiting starting with a better idea), where H&R had to fill in gaps for all the GTA style missions.
Hit and Run has great side character jokes though (I regularly quote them to myself and I'll admit that). H&R has a lot more jokes going on due to being able to interact with more stuff and those are funny. While the jokes in RR are good it's limited to the people you pick up (and who you pick them up as)
The first pic is a whole sale rip of Tokyo Xtreme Racer games (Both the main series and Drift). The physics are SHIT (but then again so are nearly all TXR games so par for the course?). But since it has an actual budget the car list is nicely furnished, tons of customization for the cars, and actually lasts a bit. Apart from the physics only other complaint is the racing part is piss easy (I'd grind the last racing boss since it's so easy, if a bit long) the drifting is pretty fucking tricky (even with all the tutorials for it) and I needed to cheese the fuck out of the last set of Drift racers by doing doughnuts towards the end of the run)
I wish it emulated better, it's fun once you get used to the physics.
Second one I'm counting since it's NASCAR. Damn good Arcade racer, though it's clearly spreading itself for playabilty when you get to the legends. There's the spiritual sequel called Rumble Racing on PS2

You mean because how Chris's parents helped him publish the book or because he made a semi-random, mysterious character based off his sister?
The book was written by a teen and it shows but it was still engaging. Too bad he went overboard with crazy ideas.
>Knife-ears are the most op race yet again but are stuck in their forest because low birth rate
>Magic is bullshit incarnate.
>No, seriously. Large scale combat is best summarized as two opposing armies trying to get to the enemy mage to bash his skull in because he's too focused casting spells that will annihilate everyone if your mage is not focusing enough on his barriers.
>Those death spells are absurdly cost-effective because the 'action' they perform does not require much physical effort to begin with
>I cast Large Scale Blood Vessel Pop on the enemy army (more specifically on each and every single one of their brains). If they are not protected against having their blood vessels popped, everyone dies.
>Nuclear elves are a thing
>Lol-so random mysterious character based off the author's sister can bend space and time with her magic. She's not even an elf.
>True names offer full control over something
>Everything has a true name, including the elven language (which is needed to perform magic),
>Big bad just deciphered that and used it to prevent others from casting magic.
Up to the second book it was mildly fine but it goes full retard on the last two.

Those games where made in an era that had a lot of talent and enthusiasm, in both coding, graphics and game design. These talented people made licensed projects, sometimes just to make the ends meet - making a shitty game.
But sometimes they got lucky, and got to do visuals or mechanics they had been aching to do - basically making the game they really wanted to do, but with licensed coating and funding/publishing - thus making a great game.
Small teams did amazing things back then, licensed or not. Now it's oversaturated shitsoup, and I don't like it.

What's funny was that there was a F&F game by Genki–the TXR guys–in the works, but the game got canned. Then we got this game by Eutechnyx, and it was… okay?

The bar's been lowered by a wide margin for games today. Shit might be outdated, but the games made back then were outright better.
Why, for example, do you think they're releasing HD remaster shit like Spyro and Crash, and why do you think they sell? Shit this is the era of remasters and the only reason they aren't selling more then the comparative fucktons they're getting despite being old is because of emulation.
Also while you may have updated tastes, you can still be greatly entertained by games from the old era that you never got a chance to try. Shit i'm going through some of the SNES library including some jap games that got fan-translated and i'm having a blast.
I mean come on m8, it's not really a middling issue here anymore, they just don't make good games.
