I loved the shit out of my PSP, playing console (at the time) quality games on the go, during my lunch break, or before a nap was fucking nifty.
I love the switch for this shit alone, It's like a Vita that didn't fucking bomb, god, I love play console ports on handhelds, that shit gets me ROCK-FUCKING-HARD
GBA, Switch, Vita, PSP, I love them all.
I also owned a modded pspgo with the dock; god damn, I loved the FUCK out of it.

It's not that simple because A: You can only have one account (technically you can switch them with hacks but that's annoying), and B: Foreign payments don't work. You have to use imported gift cards which add significant overhead. I mean there's also pkgj these days if a game's even in there.

With how shitty PSN is I wouldn't expect them to have the functionality to switch store regions conveniently or convert currency. i got FFL2/SaGa2 as a gift from my nana, it was the very first rpg i played. i was stuck in the first world for years because i couldn't find the shrine, years later i was showing it to a friend and instantly walked into the shrine.
i've done at least 5 runs of it now and know all the little bugs to break the game. the ds remake just wasn't as good, though i did like the harder final boss.
i'm really sad to see handhelds die out, but at least smartphones make good emulators if you attach a controller.

you don't need emulation for a system like that. Already has amazing options from the word go and back up loading is a breeze. Plus carrying around a handheld in your pocket > a desktop or laptop to play handheld games with a controller

what's better for ps1 games? Vita or PSP? i really wish i could play both psp and ps1 titles on vita thanks to the bigger screen and dual analog (plus physical R2 L2 buttons with a grip) but the upscaling it's not the best.

Does anyone know if there's any limits to Vita's PSP and PS1 compatibility? If there isn't go Vita. Presently all models are hackable (you want one at 3.65 or less though to enjoy Ensō, the startup entrypoint) and will also need a SD2Vita which lets you use real SD cards at the expense of the game card slot. Better is the PSVSD but those are only applicable to 3G models and they may be harder to come by.
As for what you can do, basically all Vita games with a system like freeShop on 3DS, and also running PSP ISOs and PS1 eBoots.

PS1 games are fine on the Vita officially speaking, you also get a few titles that werent playable on PSP because of the lack of second analog stick (like Ace Escape). You can also full analog on Vita which definitively help on several 3D games.
PSP-side, it's a bit trickier. There are a few releases that shows issues reported on the PSN store page (adhoc multi in Metal Slug Anthology doesnt work, Ikki Tousen has audio issues) and there a good couple of PSP titles that werent translated to Vita for either reason.
Havent tried adrenaline so I cant tell if it shows good results

Same as PSP on latest FW. Vita has the PSP built into it, pretty much. Unfortunately that homebrew that lets you switch between PSP Firmwares for compatibility does not work on the Vita though.

Things should be the same for Adrenaline. When you buy PSP/PS1 games on PSN and launch them with the bubble it boots them in PSP mode. Adrenaline just makes it directly accessible.
