Unless the localizer fucks with the game, the answer here is an absolute no. Inferno will still tear you a new asshole if you try to go into it unprepared. They did a lot of quality of life improvements that could be seen as casualization to autists, like how armor boxes and weapon drops are shared between classes regardless of which class you were playing at the time (a good half of the drops will be for the class you played, though).

Neither was OLZ. Valkyrie Drive had way more overtly sexual things happening in it, but my point wasn't that Sony would block EDF5, but that D3 might decide to deny Sony the profits involved in the western release. I highly doubt that would happen since it's a dumb move financially, but companies these days seem to have forgotten that companies are supposed to make profits.

People seem to be too fixated muh tumblr for games like that rather than seeing beyond the surface. For example, DUSK is actually not a Quake clone despite what it may seem, and is more of a danmaku FPS than any other retro FPS by virtue of having no hitscan enemies and having loads of projectile enemies which fire huge amounts of fast projectiles which can also be slid under like it's Vanquish. The highest difficulty is a one-hit kill difficulty, and it's perfectly playable if you git gud enough. The maps actually greatly vary things up by the second episodes, and the positioning of enemies create interesting and unique enough combat encounters while the gimmickry of some levels exceeds what even the Build Engine games did. It just looks like shit, because it's one guy doing the whole singleplayer and someone else doing the music.

Iconoclasts is actually a very solidly designed game with boss fights reminiscent of Treasure games (not surprising since the same dev made Noitu Love 2 which is a full loveletter to Treasure), and a subtle enough story which doesn't get in your face. Some of the gear turning mechanics are actually innovative in a lot of ways for puzzle platformers. The crafting system is just superfluous.

Yeah, the first episode is mediocre. Only by the second do the actually more interesting enemies show up like ones which fire homing bullets or a constant stream. The level design also becomes more abstract and playful, in the sense that reality gets thrown out the window and layouts become much more interesting. The atmosphere gets actually genuine, in the sense that Blood could get pretty temse at times too.
