Post and discuss couch co-op games. Don't necessarily have to be co-op, competitive games are allowed too as long as you can play them in the same room on the same monitor.

What are your favourites?

What have you been playing?

Any good recent games?

My favourite would have to be EDF 4.1, easily. Solid game, and the multiplayer has heaps of room and encouragement for teamwork and coordinated play.

Recently I've been playing that and Enter the Gungeon.

8eca3c No.15123680

EDF 4.1 ist one of my favorites as well.

Sadly these kind of games are rare nowadays, especially on consoles.

Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2

Salt and Sanctuary

Cuphead

Metal Slug

I'm thinking of rebuying Dragon's Crown for PS4 once it is cheaper.

Gunstar Heroes

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles

Jet Force Gemini (pilot/gunner relationship)

MGS: Peace Walker if you don't mind technically being on different, tiny screens or set up two emulators next to eachother.

TMNT: Turtles in Time

Man I used to have a thousand of these to suggest.

t. has several brothers

>Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles

This is one of those games that you need a dedicated group for, but holy fuck is it worth it if you make it to the end.

34a02a No.15126677

>>15126657

Listen to this Anon. The game even emulates you existing as a tight-knit community that grew up together, and important cutscenes only play once (though you can review their vital details in your journal). It's not advised to have a few 'sometimes' party members. Set out with your best bros.

I think my current data has something like 75 annual cycles on it.

>What have you been playing?

<Space Beast Terror Fright

Space-Hulk style claustrophobic horror horde FPS. 2 to 4 players split screen. It's all flat proc generated corridors but you can seed the map yourself and map/difficulty settings offer an honest level of customization.

Don't you have to go buy a bunch of GBAs and link cables to play the multiplayer for that though?

a2bb3e No.15126732

>>15126711

It's not hard to find everything online. And again, it's 100% worth it if you play through the whole game with the same group.

34a02a No.15126733

>>15126711

I've heard you can emulate it all on a single PC, connecting GBA emulators to a GCN emulator.

My brother found a bunch of Gamecubes for cheap and a pile of GameBoy Players. We've constructed a monstrosity where each player has their own GameCube and TV with a GameBoy Player, connecting to a central GameCube on a central larger screen actually running the game.

Good man.

I really wish half the professions weren't useless. Blacksmith, Alchemist, Tailor, Merchant. The rest just get you money or disposable items you can grind for.

Tales is one of the few JRPG series to offer couch co-op, and long term too. Nearly all the console entries have offered it since Destiny on the PS1 (Phantasia SFC and Legendia being the few that don't; the Xillias and Zesteria are AI heavy though for their battle systems, and reduce the feasible maximum from four players to two), and with the right people it can be pretty enjoyable to go through together. But again, "right people" being the keywords. Thus far I've gone through Eternia, Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces f, Xillia, and Xillia 2 with a friend of mine, and had a great time with each. Used to also enjoy three player co-op with some other friends, but those days aren't coming back.

>>15126646

Too bad about the GBA and link cables requirement. Glad Namco decided against that for how Tales of Symphonia's co-op would work.

I was thinking of doing that, too, but then I realized I'd have to shell out for Playstation Live to go online with it if I did that. I'll stick with the PS3 version.

Been playing Kengo with a buddy for a few years. We turn off health/stamina, which makes it so you have to gauge your HP off of how badly you're bleeding and where from. The game has just enough legit aspects as it does bullshit to keep it fun.

You need to pick up items to get shit. It's not that hard to test.

Items are shared in online multiplayer. It doesn't matter who picks it up. Split screen, armor is shared, but not weapons.

Sounds familiar… Were you in the previous (or couple previous) Tales threads?

Seconding anon's recommendation on Tales. Shit is fun as hell with co-op partners, especially Abyss IMO because of that sweet FOF dual (or triple) activation trick.

Aside from that, also from Bandai Namco (published by them, dev is Tri-Crescendo) there's Eternal Sonata. 3 characters, action combat, but each character has their own turn where you must move and combo/item/use skills - once your turn time runs out the next unit takes action.
