Didn't see a thread, I only noticed this happening because I have to keep a Twitter for aggydaggy stuff.
Finn dev Elias Viglione gets into an argument about wahmen, dude's not playing ball but ultimately he doesn't say anything controversial. Nothing nobody here doesn't already know - less women are into games than men, and so less women will be vidya CEOs than men, etc.
He has a laugh at the retards' expense, dusts his hands of it and goes to bed.
He wakes up and sees a catastrophe in front of him, a whole mess of people deliberately misinterpreting his words, championing one or two examples of women in games, and calling him a scum fuck loser who deserves the most gruesome of punishments for saying bad words on the internet.
Finn dev predictably cucks out, deletes everything and tries to apologise. Not surprising. Obviously that does nothing and they start review bombing his most recent game on Steam. A small handful of reviews seem legitimate, but are deliberately timed to hurt the dev team on ideological grounds.
Fast forward to today and there's absolutely no repentance from Twittershitters. Of course not, there never is.

What disturbs me more than anything is how Twitter enables this sort of shit and tries to browbeat any opposition into silence. This shit popped up in my feed because it was deemed "relevant", not because I was following anyone involved, so the whole thing seems manufactured on some level - I'm sure it was blasting on all fronts with the (((usual suspects))).
And if you dare to step out of line, you actually get notified whenever somebody likes a reply to your post - not an actual reply, not something interacting with your post, but someone informing you that your opinion is bad and wrong and you should fucking kill yourself.
That's not going to seriously impact anyone here, but it's still sleazy and underhanded.
None of this is news, of course, but Twitter's unfortunately important to indie devs, and there's a lot of them pulling their punches just to avoid setting the frothing hordes off. Is there a better platform for self-promotion?
