The game is on Early Access So I didn't want to support that and didn't bother, but I got it as a gift on the sale and I am really enjoying it. It's very fast paced, ost is good, and ticks that "roguelite" itch like binding of issac does

Anyone else tried it? .Favorite weapon? I usually spend points in brutality and if I can't I put them in whatever gives more HP. kind of sucks you can only have 3 mutations. almost beat the "last" boss with just 2 flask drinks since I haven't played it much yet, but I'm having fun.

From what I understand it suffers from the same problem Darkest Dungeon did - while devs are working over the game their vision of it changes, meanwhile players get too comfy with how it is now, so when game changing updates come out, half of the player base throws a bitch fit.

At witch point devs are forced to either compromise on their vision, which brought game to life in the first place, or to alienate fans, who made this continuous work possible through EA model.

And implementing polarized gameplay options can eat up too many resources, since you'll have to deal with bugs and shit from both versions.

It's a cursed circle without the way out.

The progression is an absolute clusterfuck, and once you get all of the paths, there's practically no reason to take any of them

And the metroidvania abilities that should all be worked into the moveset are mostly stupid lazy "press a button on this environmental specific glowing object to cross this uncrossable barrier" shit because anything more would make level design harder

There's also a clock hanging over the whole game that gives continuous rewards and encourages running past every single enemy in the game

They could also have put more work into weapon movesets

I can't stand this about Metroidvanias. You may as well have just given them a key instead. The obstacle you're trying to get past should still be dangerous, just actually possible to get around now that you have the thing and know how to use it properly.

Isaac doesn't really have paths to speak of, definitely nothing close to what this game has

And the timer is pretty lenient, and only gives you rewards on the back half of a run, and only if you can beat some of the most bullshit things in the game to get them

And it's physically impossible to run past all the enemies unless you have infinite bombs or get lucky with teleport shenanigans, in which case you're missing out on important drops

They're really not comparable experiences

I loved it for about a month then got tired of their updates constantly erasing my progress and shelved it. From what I've heard recent changes have caused builds to become less fun. I won't touch it again until I get confirmation that their updates won't erase my progress.

Played the game few weeks ago and only problems are the rogue-lite mechanics. Mainly the locked progression and constantly repeating content. Also exploration is on the weak side because of r-lite shit.

Otherwise the game is great. Combat and movement are god tier, items and weapons are fun to use, difficulty curve is fine and i really like how expressively everything is animated.

A really great game held back severely by rogue-lite mechanics/progression. Permadeath/reset + locked item progression is just the worst fucking combination ever - it has killed so many otherwise good games for me. If you don't mind that,the game is really good.

There are plenty of reasons why rogue-lite shit can fuck up a game completely. People generally dislike badly implemented mechanics that clash with other mechanics. The flavor of the current year +-2 just happens to be rogue-lite.

A sort of new game plus like system. Beating the final boss gets you the first one. Beating him again with it active gets you the second one and so on until four. Each one you have active increases the difficulty of the game by reducing the amount of flask refills available in the game but also giving you access to hidden routes and shops and shit.

Nearly every ounce of my spare time in the last 3 weeks.

My ideal loadout is usually firebrand+iceshard and 2 heavy turrets. The slow from iceshard is enough to make all the lategame heavyhitters laughably slow and they get stuck in your fire aoe. Heavy turrets dish out an insane amount of damage and by the end of the game if you take the tactics cooldown mutation you'll be sitting at 80%+ cooldown reduction so the turrets will always be with you.

You wouldn't believe how many times I've been combo'd from full by a jumping zombie into some exploding shit that I just moved out of the way from.

The fat fucks don't bother me so much anymore. If you get grabbed, there's a tiny window before he strikes that you can roll away, mashing like a madman usually gets it for me.

Anyways, my favourite weapon is the hybrid sword that deals guaranteed crit if you are below 50% HP, it is truly great.

There are certain combos such as ice spells into crossbow shotgun or longbow crit.

Either way since Im way too used to play with 3cells or 4cells I have abandoned all kinds of turret builds since they make you too squishy and ranged builds tend to fail in boss fights, mostly on the Hand of the King. So I'm now running melee with granades or survival shit that has -X% damage taken modifiers so I don't get oneshotted by the smallest shit if I sneeze

My favourite weapon is probably the spiteful sword, the moveset's really nice with its 3rd hit kick, gives it good versatility.

I'm a fan of parrying so making use of the vengeance mechanic is trouble though, as optimal use would mean taking the front line shield, which can't parry.

two ice grenades, less grenade cooldown mutation, reforge them for x4 slow so you rotate the grenades, assassin's dagger with 175% frozen damage and+20% critical hit

Burning builds are also fun, and they can go with anything

that's not true. You go to other paths to hunt for rare blueprints. but yes, after that, because it's on Early access right now the optimal path is taking the one that lets you access the prison depths since it's one extra level so you can get more upgrades. but eventually that will be evened out

Regarding the clock, the clock rooms are more like a"here's some upgrades since you skipped them because you went so fast" catch up and not min-max optimal. It's only there if you're speedrunning it
