Well. Okay.

Robobot didn't feel like a kirby game to me, and people seem to say triple deluxe is a bad kirby game but I don't understand why.

Maybe I focus on the wrong things with kirby, but I had a hell of a lot more fun with the megainhale than I did with just being kirby in a mech suit

No. The levels were bland as fuck, really easy and tedious to replay. 100%ing the levels was boring and the sun locations were far too predictable. The game is full of stupid gimmicks like the gyroscope "puzzles" and the hyper inhale, which are flashy time wasters with zero depth. The bosses were mostly ok, but none stood out positively. The moveset expansions for abilities were neat, like fire's jump->roll->touch ground->roll->jump combo which gives you 2-3 seconds of iframes. Sadly, the game doesn't adjust enemies and level design to match the expanded moveset. The only two challenges in the game are the fighters minigame and the true arena. I don't really enjoy the fighters minigame because the enemies consistently and instantly perform technical moves in close combat while acting like retards at range, forcing you to fight at the longest range possible. The true arena is the most fun I have had with the game, but since the game is a platformer and not a boss rush game, I can't rate the game by the fun in the true arena alone.

Best one IMO is Amazing Mirror, I really enjoyed the openness and mazelike level design. Since any hit could knock your copy ability out of you and since you had to find your path through a lot of rooms, objects that required a specific ability had far more impact. At your best, you still had less health than in triple deluxe.

Crystal Shards.

I liked the level design, creative camera angles and it's overall pacing with the different physics and limited flying. The possibilty to combine all copy abilities was fucking rad too.

A real sequel to it like it was to DreamLand 3 never ever, were forever stuck on the SuperStar timeline.

Kirby Super Star Ultra and I'll never be ashamed my favorite is an upgraded handheld port.

Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot all look good, but aesthetics and sheer content and presentation give it the win for me. Star Allies is a mixed bag because it's way too easy even for Kirby and feels like more of the same, but at the same time you can throw together your own party and team up for more entertaining and amazing abilities than ever before. Again, this kind of power and tools the player has at their disposal makes every enemy and conventional boss a joke.

I played just the demo and it felt like Kirby to me. Kirby still copied abilities by pooling his own mysterious powers into the mech and transformed the enemy's greatest weapon into his newest and an even more powerful one to turn the tables and save his home from the advanced intergalactic automated menace destroying the nature of Pop Star.

Amazing Mirror.

The only other games I've played are Adventure and Superstar, and Amazing Mirror feels like a direct upgrade to those, honestly.

Something I've been a bit curious about: Did Return to Dreamland do badly in sales (being a really late era Wii game), or is it just a game that people tend to hang on to? I suppose one can always just pirate for emulation/modded Wii loading, but I've noticed a lack of it around stores where I live. Plenty of copies of Epic Yarn and even Dream Collection (which to its credit had more to offer than the Mario anniversary collection the Wii), but I generally haven't seen Return to Dreamland.

There's a couple GBA titles worth checking out, one being Amazing Mirror, which is pretty huge and played as one long thing rather than separate levels. Loads of fun. The DS game, the name which escapes me (Mouse attack or something) was acceptable but is also barebones basic, try it if you can download it and just wanna relax. Since you liked Super Star, get Super Star Ultra, it's a port with some extra features (like an additional "harder" Marx fight - but this is Kirby, there's no real challenge, still fun).

I can't comment on the most recent titles as I've not played them myself, but if any anons recommend them I'd be grateful too.

Superstar. One of the best co-op games. Sitting down with a few beers and trying to get all the treasures in Cave, or all the powers in Milky Way was a lot of fun, and Metaknight always had my blood pumping.

I would say kirby super star on the SNES while my 2nd favorite would be Kirby 64 crystal shards. I like the ice ability for being able to transform small enemies and enemy projectiles into an ice cube projectile which pretty much rapes alot of enemies.

If you liked Crystal Shards, you should emulate it but with the Turbo Speed cheat, you can find it on YouTube. It's called Speed Hack or something, makes Kirby faster and makes the game really fun. Hope your rig is decent, the cheat kinda chugged my performance and I got some crashes but it was a great time otherwise.

The armor and the mega suck are functionally the same in that they are setpiece tools. The Mega Suck just takes a Kirby function and goes extreme with it. The robobot pretends to be as "devastating" as the mega suck, but it simply isn't. You fight a boss with it and you'll get your shit slapped and there isn't a 4th wall breaking extreme sequence showcasing this power in-universe.

The robobot was less imposing than Kirby teaming up with Rick, Nago, or ChuChu.

Both games have a good soundtrack. Triple deluxe gimmick gets stale, the robot doesn't. The only good thing about deluxe was sectonia and that's at the end of the game. the entirety of robobot is enjoyable because every level is unique.

Question: would the 3ds have the hardware to be able to run tilt and tumble without any accessories? I know it does have some sort of gryoscope in there but I haven't seen many games use it so I don't know the extent of it.

also if it can do it would it really be too much of a hassle to port it over?

I also preferred triple deluxe to robobot, triple deluxe has my favourite ost ever being one of the major reasons. I didnt dislike robobot, triple deluxe was just better levels i think, while robobot was a lot more flashy. I thought the last robobot fight was cool though, even though the last attack got me once, i was grinning. The nova interior fight with the music was so cool

My favorite is Squeak Squad. Loved getting all the collectibles and changing Kirby's color. The ghost powerup was disappointing but that's my only gripe.

Super Star is the best Kirby, but many kirby games are great
